Last night, M was sitting in my lap, trying to tell me something. She was staring in my eyes, saying the same thing over and over again. She had just heard the neighbor's dog bark so I thought she wanted to look out the window to see him. It wasn't that and I just couldn't figure out what she was saying!
How do you figure out what the babble means!??!

It's really hard sometimes! Sometimes what she says sounds absolutely nothing like what she means. (aka "apple gappy apple guy" is supposed to be "like a diamond in the sky") Honestly, I just ask her to show me what she wants or what she's saying, and I can tell more from that than from trying to decode her babbling.

i do the same as @BabyBoecksMom: - i just keep trying to get DS to show me what he's talking about. just last night i figured out 2 key "words"...and one of them was completely different than i thought! (i thought he was saying his grandmother's name, he was really looking for his binky...ooops!)

I try to get him to point at what he's saying, or pay attention when he says it over and over, and apply it to that situation. We just figured out that when he says 'eee' he wants to eat.

Agreed, I always ask j to SHOW me what he wants. When he says 'more' in sign he says 'mama' but doesn't generally want me (wah!). We also realized we just do things for him rather than make him express himself, which is hindering his vocalization. We have more fits now but we are really working with him on his words and he's improved a lot just in the past couple weeks!

Tonight DD kept saying "boo" and trying to open Skype. But I logged off and yet she didn't care. She just kept clicking back at it patiently(!) and saying boo. I have no clue what she means or who she wants me to call!
