I am thinking about hiring someone to come do a deep clean but I have no clue how to find someone. One friend can't stand her cleaning lady, another friend has a great one who is booked solid. The agencies like Merry Maids charge a fortune and don't seem quite worth it. Any suggestions?

I personally like having an individual not a service. I usually ask my neighbors for recommendations. We found our maid through our dog walker.

I would ask around at your work. That how I found mine. I'm only comfortable using someone I had a personal recomendation for.

Sounds like you've already tried personal referrals. I've gotten a few that way, but it seems like they're hit and miss. I look on yelp for cleaning people that have lots of great reviews. But overall, I've been unhappy with just about everyone I've hired after a while.

I found a service on Google and they are fantastic.

We asked a friend's mother who is a cardiologist. It seems like most established doctors around here have someone who cleans for them. I know that's how a few other friends have found someone to clean; just asked their doctors if they had a recommendation. Maybe that's wierd?

I have down services, Craigslist, and referral. The only ones that are really good are the referrals, but if they are food, they are usually more expensive.
