My son is nearly 6 weeks old and as much as I LOVE holding him, he NEVER lets me put him down, he just cries and cries.
I've tried wearing him in the moby to get stuff done but it's too hard to bend over with him in the carrier to do the dishwasher, laundry, other cleaning.
Even while he sleeps, he must be held. I've tried the swing, carseat, stroller, etc. He just loves being held! But I'm starting to feel lazy by not doing anything but holding him on my rocking chair all day.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried strapping him to your back?
Bee's mom wore Olive on her back while she was visiting, and was able to get tons done. Olive loved it too! I don't think my back could survive that though, so maybe that's not practical... ideally your LO will let you put him down eventually!!

The posts and comments on those links indicate that they're safe for very young infants. I don't have any experience with that though.
I don't know the name of the wrap that Bee's mom used... it was a modern day product that she brought with her from LA!

@miss-spunkin: I feel your pain. my LO was the exact same way. Unfortunately I never found a solution, and it took about 2.5 months before I actually started to be minimally productive during the day. I just tried to enjoy those moments as much as was possible (I know it's hard). Now my LO is 8 months old, and she hates to cuddle =(
I'd suggest just keep putting him down a little every day and eventually one day he'll stay on his own!

@sunshine44: I am definitely intentional about having floor time, and sometimes he's okay with it as long as I stay there interacting with him. So hopefully that will help??
I feel bad but sometimes I just have to let him cry so that I can pee!

I still can barely go to pee and my daughter is almost 2. I hear it gets better around 3? But as far as putting them down, my LO was like that, too, until I finally got her used to sitting in a bouncer so I could do a few things. I wasn't a big fan of baby wearing.

@miss-spunkin: It will help.....just very...slowly. I couldn't leave my LO's side ever. I would take her bouncy chair into the washroom with me so she could see me when I needed to pee. She'd only cry 50% of the time that way! Just be patient and remember baby time is more important than chores!
One thing that worked sometimes, was my Beco baby carrier that held her right up against my chest (facing me). I could give my arms a little break when she was in it and could do a few things around the house.

How frustrating!
My LO was like that for the first month or so and I felt like I was going to pull my hair out. I found my LO's happy place was on her changing table and I would take advantage of that. If I needed to pee, I could strap her to it and run to the bathroom (next to her room) and she would just kick and play. I gradually started leaving her in there for longer times (all while I was right there), so I could get things done.
When I felt she was comfortable with being put down for a few minutes, I started to put her down other places and now I can put her in the swing or on the floor.
As it turns out now, she won't let me hold her unless I feed her (but that's another story)... I miss the days when she wanted me to hold her all the time.

@sunshine44: I have a beco too! I loved using it with my nanny boy last summer. LO is still a little small tho which is why I've been using the moby, but it still makes bending over difficult.
Yeah I need him to acclimate to the bouncer. I can't even take a shower! I can only do stuff when my husband is here.

@BabyBoecksMom: hahah same with my LO! He is usually so content on the changing pad, since he's only six weeks I will strap him on to pee or switch the laundry, but I know i won't be able to keep doing that for much longer.

LO was like that too. Eventually she learned to tolerate the bouncy chair long enough so I could take a shower. And I had to put her right in front of the shower so she can still see me. At 4 months I got a used exersaucer and she took to that right away and I was able to at least make a quick meal.. I also had to nap train around 4-5 months. She just wasn't getting quality naps otherwise. Hope things get better.

What would happen if you were to put him in the bouncer seat or something while you take a shower and just not pick him up when he started to cry? I mean if he is fed and changed and feeling okay, eventually he will just stop....
If he doesn't, a shower is only 15 minutes!

First, let go of any guilt with not getting things done, enjoy the moment as much as you can, because they are only this small for so long. There is nothing wrong with holding him, everyone does things differently. I really like my sling, he fits in very securely, close, and I can easily slip an arm over him if I need to bend over.
Next, if you are in the middle of something and he cries, let him briefly as long as he is in a safe place. I have a pack and play outside my bathroom door, I take my shower, and can hear if he really gets worked up, but a crying baby is still a live one. Mommy needs a little time every so often, don't feel guilty.
I have a half dozen "play stations" I rotate throughout the day, since he gets bored fairly easily. He has been getting more and more interested in them as he gets bigger, buying me more time to get other things done. Yours is still pretty small, mine didn't start liking toys until 7 weeks.
Hang in there, so far I have learned that babies are like the weather, wait 15 minutes, they will keep changing

My mom gave me the best advice, along the same lines as what lemondrop wrote.
I had my son in the moby for the first couple of months, he would just conk right out in there and I could fold laundry or do little household tasks.

If it's cleaning, just let it go. My LO was and still is a little like this b/c she misses me at daycare. I used to put her down, she'd cry,cry,cry while I cleaned since you know, 50million people came over a day. Eventually, I was like screw it. I'll clean what's important right now and take time with her. If it's dirty to my mom, she can clean it. I need to do what I need to do.

My lo was like that too. She never let me put her down. And I didn't get anything done! Id wait for my husband to get home, or my mom would come help. It does get easier though. Your lo will eventually want to be put down, and you'll be able to use a bouncer, swing, jumper, etc when you need to get things done. And then you'll miss the days when they sleep in your arms!
