Do you stay in hotels, hostels, motels, vacation homes, couch surf?
I prefer vacation homes. I find it more convenient to have our own private space and often it's much cheaper than hotels.
We also stayed at hostels on our hm. Can't bring myself to couch surf at a strangers home tho!

depends... my sister works in the hotel industry so I get cost price of the rates. So Ya, hotel for me! but I don't go for the super expensive ones.
I can usually get 3 nights for the price of 1 regular room.

If its a longer trip (full week or more) we'll look in to renting a house. Otherwise... Hotel all the way. You'll never find me in a hostel. I'm just too high maintenance for that : )

I stayed in hostels in Europe when I was younger, I think DH & I would be too old for it now 
If I have an opportunity to stay with friends/family, then I do. We're poor! Or we camp, but we enjoy camping, so it's not out of hardship. We stay in hotels too. I've never rented a house on my own, but my parents did a lot when I was younger, often a huge one and lots of family would share it. I loved it and would consider doing that once we have a LO.
Edit to add: we stay with friends/family that have space for us, not like on their living room couch! Although we've stayed on air beds

Depends. When I was younger I did a lot of hostels or id bring a pup tent. Now we try to stay with family a lot or stay at a hotel. Last vacation we rented someones apartment for a week.

We would rent a space, stay with family or a hotel. When we go to NY we stay with the IL's, but before they had room for us (before their kids moved out!) we stayed with friends of ours. We were considering our own private apt or house to rent next time.

I definitely prefer vacation homes, but we often stay in hotels as well. ...and of course I love crashing with family or friends, and I always love when friends come to stay with us too!

We stay in hotels or a vacation home if it is more convenient, like in areas where there are not many hotels.

Depends, we have a vacation house in FL so when we travel to FL we stay there but when we travel elsewhere we stay in a nice hotel.

Hotels! I was open to couch surfing when I was younger (<24) but not anymore.
I used to work for Hyatt Hotels for 5 years and we used to get 12 free hotel nights a year... man, that is the ONLY thing I miss from my corporate days!! We traveled frequently because hotels were always free ( even the nicer hotels like Park Hyatt and Grand Hyatt) and even in different countries too.

i'm kind of a diva when it comes to lodging...i like to stay in hotels and they have to be nice. i'm open to renting a house too, but again, it has to be nice so i don't end up saving any money that way.

It all depends on the where and who we are with. If it is a group of people, I prefer a house. Just DH and I hotel.

We stay at a hotel when we vacation. When we're visiting family we stay with them.

Lately I feel like whenever we travel we are visiting family. On our last trip we stayed mostly with family, but also in a rented apartment and a B&B. We usually aim for some sort of B&Besque place, a bit smaller than a hotel.
When my husband and I used to travel before baby we often traveled very cheaply and camped or stayed in hostels and even couch surfed one night - couchsurfing was a really great experience I'm really glad I found that website, but now that baby has come I don't think I'd do it anymore

Depends on where I am going and how long it's for. In Maui for 10 days we rented a vacation home (which was awesome and way cheaper than a hotel). If it's for the weekend in a city, then it's a hotel with a pool. Right now we are in Prince Edward Island which seems to be B & B land. It's my first time in a B & B and it's fun! Seemed weird though, coming back from the day's siteseeing to find the house dark. I felt like a teenager sneaking in after curfew!

We always stay in hotels. DH works for a hotel and he also has a lot of connections so we usually are able to stay in very nice hotels for a good price.
