It's something I've considered for the future... when I read adoption stories or even look into local agencies, I have such a strong emotional response. It would be a long way off - but if it's something we are serious about, I want to be able to plan for it.

One of the agencies that is local to us specializes in adoptions from China, and provides a comprehensive list of expenses that totals just over 20k. It truly is no small expenditure - and worth every penny I am sure - but how do families pay for it?

I know some employers offer adoption assistance programs, which is something we would look into, and there are tax breaks of course. But other than that is it mostly just saving like crazy and all out of pocket?

Please forgive my ignorance on this topic. Although it's always been a thought in my mind, I have not researched the subject thoroughly yet.
