How do you say Anais?
My mom had a student YEARSSS ago named Anais and she pronounced it sort of like Ahna-ees.
Saw a segment on a morning show promote one of their products as Aden and "Aah-NYE" (like Ahhh, then Nye like bill nye.)
Am I saying it wrong? Does anyone KNOW for sure?
ETA****** - the company confirmed to me on twitter it's uh-NAY. So I was way off. See below for screen shot!

I think if its a french word the correct pronounciation would me Ah-nigh but I always say ah-nays

I heard the French pronunciation is ahna-ees. I've heard it said a-nye-is but I don't think that's right.

"Aden and whatever". I don't know how its pronounced!
I probably say the first (anay-is) but I'm guessing it should be the second?

@Foodnerd81: HAHA this is what I say! Whenever I tell people about them I say "Aden & A Whatever" and say I dont' know how to pronounce the second word

Someone from the company was doing a segment on a tv show once and pronounced it "Ah-Nay".
So, that's probably the correct way.

@LazyLightning: Bahahahahaha! I say Ay-den and Anus in my head too (I try to pronounce it A-nay when I say it out loud, but I always read it as Anus)!!! Glad I'm not the only one

Our French friends have a daughter named Anais and pronounce it "ahna--ees" so that's how I say it, too. Prior to knowing them, I probably would have said "ah-nay."

Interesting. I pronounce it the French way and just confirmed with my French DH. When there are two vowels together in French and the second one has the tréma (two dots above it), you pronounce both vowels.
It's a bit more nasal than an English speaker can do, but it is definitely 3 syllables and something like Ah-nay-ees.
Side note, one of my favorite author's lover was Anaïs Nin.
