I've heard it two different ways.
Just curious!

I am from there, so the first pronunciation is definitely the most common and sounds the best to me!
It drives me NUTS when people say New OrLEENZ. Just bonkers!
My husband is from upstate NY and he said it that way a few times when we were first dating and I was like, "Ok, look. You're REALLY cute and I like you, but this will not work if you keep saying it that way. It's a deal-breaker!" He is now trained to say it correctly, as well as saying "ya'll" and "gonna" and "I'ma" and lots of other fun things Southerners say:)

I always said it New Orleenz until I went there and was chatting with the cab driver. He schooled me on the right way to say it, which I'm glad about.
In MA, there is a town called Orleans (OrLEENZ) so I have to make sure to pronounce each correctly.

I say New Orlins, but we have a town here in MA called Orleans, and that's pronounced OrLEENs.

@jholler25: Where in Upstate NY is he from? Dave was born in Syracuse and grew up in the Rochester area.

I don't understand the difference between option #1 and option #4.
They sound the same in my head?

I do say N'awlins sometimes...when I'm drinking and homesick.
Rachael Ray once pronounced it "New Or-Lee-enz" (3 distinct syllables). I almost threw my shoe at the television.

I lived there for about a year and it's NOLA, y'all! I call it New Awlins, from what I can tell saying it to myself LOL.

I pronounce like #1, with an occasional n'awlins thrown in (only for fun--I couldn't pull it off IRL).

New Orlins, for sure. I was born in Louisiana, but grew up in MA so the Orleans thing is confusing, too!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I was watching the news and the announcer kept saying "New Or Le Ins" 3 syllables and I was curious if there was anyone else that said it that way!

@Coco Bee: Ahhh!! The Oregon thing makes me crazy. I lived there for a while, and I just can't help but correct people when they say Or-e-gone.
