Eggs go in the fridge, both store bought and the farm fresh eggs we get from my parents. (they always wash then refrigerate the eggs as soon as they collect them).
I've never heard of leaving eggs out on the counter!

We keep them in a basket on the counter. We're in Mexico and buy them at walmart so they're definitely commercial, but I do believe it if you say they're not super washed because occasionally I find schmutz or a feather or something stuck to them. Anyway never had any food borne issues....

@Mrs. Polish: I voted other, since they go in the pantry, not on the counter I'm in NZ.
my ILs in the US keep their eggs in the fridge, and they get freshly laid eggs from their daughters chickens
