I have a million cookbooks. Right now they're in our kitchen cabbinet on the bottom, and it's such a deep shelf so there's no good way to stack them. If I want a cookbook, I have to sit on the floor and dig through them. We're thinking of buying something to make it easier for me, but we have to have something that has closed doors on it because our dog likes to eat things when we leave him alone in the house, so the traditional bookshelf won't work. Any ideas?

Our cookbooks are in our bookcase in our office. If we need a recipe, we just go get the cook and bring it into the kitchen.

Mine are in a bookcase in our living room. I find that I barely use them since I get all my recipes from the internet nowadays.

We have built-in bookcases/hutch in our dining room where we keep cookbooks.
Do you have room for a bookcase with glass front doors, or hutch in your kitchen or dining room?

@cyneswith: That's nice, but unfortunately our kitchen isn't big enough for that. We have a corner hutch in our dining room but it's already full
@Rubies: We also have bookshelves in our guestroom/office, but I'm planning on using that for baby #2's room so I don't want to put more crap in there just to have to find a new place for it later.
@Andrea: I love cookbooks! I get some stuff from the internet but couldn't get rid of my cookbooks.
@yoursilverlining: We have room for something in my kitchen. Nothing huge though. I just have to find something I like I guess.

Could you install some raised shelves? Book shelves don't have to go on the floor.

@artbee: I love thumbing through them but I find myself going digital nowadays. I love using Zip List and I can access all the recipes from my iPhone when I am at the grocery store so I can figure out what I need if I forget to do it before I leave the house!

@Andrea: How do you read the recipe when you're cooking? Whenever I have internet recipes I bring the computer over to the kitchen and I'm always scared I'll spill. I'm too lazy to print it out.

No room in your dining room or living room either? If there's no room for more storage, and no way to partition the cabinet the books are already in, you're kind of stuck.

or i also have an iPad so i put that on a stand and that works great. i agree about bringing your computer in, though.

We have a walk in pantry so my cookbooks are on a shelf in there. I don't think that helps you though.

@Leialou: No, but that would be awesome! Our house didn't even have a pantry, we had to buy one.
