We have way too many books and they are everywhere in our house. We have them in the living room, playroom (on picture ledges and in a cube storage shelf), and in A's bedroom in a basket and on her dresser. We also have a tote of seasonal/holiday books that stays stored in the closet. I really want to get something bigger for A's room to hold more books and get them in one spot in her room, and out of the living room.
Where do you keep your LO's books and what do you keep them in/on?

We have a bookcase in DS's room. It's strictly for his books only.

We have a giant bookshelf in the living room with most of our books. The kids books take up an entire row and then some. And they are in order by color.

We have a bin in my son's room. His favorite books though, are on the nightstand.
I also have a stash of books in the playroom, in a basket.

We just bought a bookcase from ikea for $19. I had LO's books under my bed, under DS's bed, on his dresser, on DD's dresser, in the diaper bag, on a bookshelf down stairs. I even gave about half to my mom because my house was overflowing with books. We should have bought a bookcase, like 200 books ago.

We have a little IKEA bookcase right now. We're going to consolidate and move it to some shelves so it's not so cluttered.

@Bao: I'm a little neurotic about it 
. But I actually find that it is easier to find a specific book since I know what color the spine is (we have 200+ children's books). I can also tell DS to go look for X book in the blue/green/red/whatever section, and he can usually find it.

In her room, they're in a 6 cubby bookshelf we got from Michael's with a 50% off coupon when I started scrapbooking. Downstairs, we have two book baskets and a bookshelf. The current books are in the baskets and books for when she gets older are on the shelf I also keep some of my books downstairs in the bookshelf there. In the loft area upstairs, we have a bookshelf that has most of my books, some toddler books.
There are always about 5 books stacked next to my bed. (My husband doesn't read...)

We have a lot...in the playroom a bookshelf plus a box for board books. In the LOs bedroom, two big boxes, and in my bedroom (next to the rocker) a magazine holder with more books. I've found they prefer to access the bins as opposed to the shelf.

In Lorelei's room we have this shelf, and then all over the house and in the car we have these baskets.

we have an IKEA kid bookshelf but honestly the regular rotation books are always in a messy pile on the loveseat in her room where we read at nap and bedtime! we have a cubby in our living room too but we don't read as much out there. oh and right now there is a stack by her potty

We were going to buy one of those beautiful bookcases with the molding and open slats so the books can be facing forward but we have too many books and like the option to use the bookshelf for miscellaneous storage (puzzles, flash cards,etc). So I reluctantly gave up on having a beautiful bookshelf and we opted for two plain white bookshelves from IKEA...super inexpensive and you can move the shelves around to fit your needs (so we have narrow shelves for puzzles and for smaller board books).

We have a large family room bookcase and kids books take up the bottom shelves, ours on the top. I like that we have a family hub for books. The kids each have a basket of books next to the gliders in their rooms, and we have 2 baskets of books in other living spaces. I really like using bolga baskets for the kids books and toys, we have a bunch

@Bao: This style. Mine are from market vendors and our local fair trade shop. You can get lots of different sizes/shapes/colors.

@Bao: that's too bad...IKEA has so much stuff that works so well for kids. I've seen similar storage units/bookshelves at Target but not sure about the pricing.

we have a lovely pbk bookshelf, but DD doesn't believe in nicely organized books. hers are all over the floor, in her play kitchen cabinets, in her shopping cart,....
