Sometimes I'll say he needs to be changed even if he doesn't really, or I'll give DH a look that says, Go get the baby! if it's his family...with my family, I'll just take him if I want him back, lol.

I just say, I've got to feed her...since I'm breastfeeding no one argues. I sometimes give DH the look...but usually if she isn't fussing and the person is ok with her, I soak up the moment to relax a second.

If its my family I'll just take him but if its in laws or someone like a friend I really don't know what to say. Chances are they will start fussing or pee or something so I'll jump in and be like "oh, let me get him off your hands".

she usually starts to wine before I have a chance to miss having her in my arms. Normally people say oh dear she wants her mama here you go!

I usually just say she needs a diaper change.

I just got back from hogging my friend's baby!

@prettylizy: exactly! No one wants to deal with a crabby baby!

My DD doesn't like being passed around anyway. Usually by her third non mom or dad face she starts to fuss for us or to be put down.

@septemberlove: at 5 weeks my LO would be happy to be held by an axe murderer during her active awake times! She'll go to anyone. But she wants mama when she's hungry and daddy when she's sleepy.

I battled this in the beginning (and sometimes still do even at 11 months!). I went with the excuse that she needed to take a nap or be fed.

I just grabbed her. But I like to have a break if other people are around. That's not very often.
