DS1 is 3.5. He can dial 911 on my cell and knows if he is lost to find a mom with kids (later we will talk about people who work where we are, but that's too abstract for now). He has a good sense for what is and is not an emergency, but mostly he knows to call if a grown up says or if he can't wake up a grown up he is with or if there is a fire. I think the trickiest part of nine online without a landline is that it would be difficult for him to locate the phone.

@creativemomma15: Oh, bummer. That's hard. DS1 kind of takes it as "matter of fact." And it's so hard, because you don't want to turn it into a game--it needs to be taken seriously (obviously). Hmmm... what if you find good books for it? Would that be less scary, if it was happening to someone in the story vs. telling him a scenario? I think that's probably enough for now.

I need to look into it but I think you can have Siri call emergency if they don't know numbers.

@JennyD: I need to work on the address thing...we just moved. But LO1 knows his full name and our full names. He should probably learn my phone number, too.

I'd like to start teaching my son as well- he turned 4 in March. He knows my cell number and our names, but not sure how to go about the emergency part!
