I got a pretty nasty sunburn over the weekend, despite my efforts to prevent it. I've used aloe on it, soaked in a cold bath, and the finally tried noxema because of a recommendation from my DH's coworker. It really worked! It kept my skin cooler longer than the aloe did. How do you treat sunburn?

Mine never last long. I got a wicked one yesterday and now 24 hours later, i'm mostly brown. I just took a cold shower and I've been using lots of aloe.

before baby I used aloe. I never heard the Noxema trick...I didnt realize they still even made Noxema! I still remember my mom having it in the house when I was young, and the old container it was in. Someone gave me two bottles of Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray not knowing I was having a c-section. I use that on sunburns now too. Keep it in the fridge and spray on. It feels so good

Washcloths soaked in milk and aloe.

Noxema is wonderful. Also, leave the noxema or aloe in the fridge and it will feel even better when applied!

Lots and lots of aloe and lotion.

I use silver sulfadiazine cream. I have some prescription strength but I believe its sold over the counter too. Works wonders!

I'm like @zippylef: mine go away within about 24 hours so I usually don't do anything to actually treat it.

Aspirin (for swelling), and cloths soaked in milk (or tea bag compresses if I don't have millk).

Potato peeled. My father (red head!) would occasionally get the worst sunburn and I remember my mother just peeling a bunch of potatoes and applying it to his back when he lay on the floor. The starch in the potatoes is supposed to help the itching and redness, so I've always heard. =P

I get sick when I get a sunburn, so I just sleep until I feel better.

Ibuprofen and some awesome aloe lotion

White vinegar!!!! Best thing ever! Just wipe it on with cotton wool pads as needed- quickest thing to get rid of redness and I'm a fair skinned redhead! It does make you smell like a fish and chip shop though... Lol

Drinking lots of water and applying more of my usual oil moisturizer. The sunburn looks angry, but it doesn't really hurt and goes away in a couple of days with little peeling.

I've used noxema before too. It really does work! There was also this after sun cooling gel I used to use. I don't remember the name of it but it always got rid of my redness in a day.
