How do you use Linked-In. Are there any unspoken "rules" for what not to do?

Currently I only use it to have my name out there, connect with people I know. I know people who used it to connect with others in order to get a job. Using friends of friends that work at desired companies. If I needed to I would up my use, but I very rarely login to it.

I barely use it--literally, I go on it to accept requests from people I know, and I ignore requests from people I don't know. It isn't the way the job market works in my field at all, maybe if it was I'd use it more.

I'm hardly on it, but connect with people I know. I know some friends that have used it to find a job; and quite a few people have reached out to be looking for a job or inquire if I know of someone that's interested in a position. I'll probably use it more when I get to looking for another job.
