How does Frozen's "Let It Go" stack up to the great Disney songs of yore?

I like the opening of the song:

Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know

Can’t hold it back anymore

But the bridge doesn't really do it for me:

But it doesn't stack up in my mind to the great classics from the original Disney renaissance!

I don't think it's the best but it is catchy and I enjoy it. I love Idina Menzel though so maybe that's part of it. Nothing can beat classics from Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, etc.

@mrbee: yes, I had read that too. I'm glad Disney decided to do the sister theme instead.

...and for some strange reason I now have "Why Should I Worry" in my head from Oliver & Company.

I love this song, and I love all the renditions I've seen on it. Especially the one with all the languages, that was so neat!

Did you guys see this one with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots?

And I'm a HUGE fan of The Piano Guys so this has my heart -

Since it's always in my head, I'd say it can hold it's own against some of my old Disney favorites. It's definitely my favorite in a long long time.

I also really like "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" and "Love Is An Open Door". Honestly, I haven't been as caught up in a Disney movie like I have Frozen in a very long time.

the entire Frozen soundtrack is pretty awesome. We've been listening to it in the car pretty regularly for 2+ months now and are still not sick of it!

I've heard it a few times (Oscars, Fallon) but I haven't seen the movie yet, so maybe that's why I'm not in love with it. It doesn't seem as great as Colors of the Wind or Circle of Life, but maybe after we buy the movie I'll like it more.

I haven't seen the movie yet. I've only heard it 3x so far: on Oscars, Fallon and on the radio today. It seems like a nice song but it doesn't seem to be as catchy as my favorites from the Little Mermaid, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, etc.

I'm really not a fan of this song. I keep thinking I must be missing something since everyone else seems to love it. For me, this has nothing on Can You Feel The Love Tonight and similar songs of our childhood.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think Idina Menzel sings it so passionately that she really makes the song. I love the Tonights Show version with The Roots!!

I like it, but I still love the classics, I think that's just because they were "my" Disney movies! But I will be buying Frozen when it comes out for DD!

I like it. I like it better than some of the other more recent Disney songs. I think it can hold up to some of the classics. I think people tend to think the songs of their childhood are always better , but really this is a catchy, memorable tune.

I like it a lot (super catchy!), but I wouldn't put it in the top 10. I don't know if it's because I grew up with them, but I think the older ones are MUCH better still.

I like it, and I LOVE Idina Menzel, but it doesn't hold a candle to songs from the classics. Lion King, for me, is Disney gold on the movie front.
But when LO starts watching TV/movies, I'm sure she'll think the cartoons I love are super lame.

I don't think it's as great as, say, Beauty and the Beast (but then, what is . . . maybe Little Mermaid comes close?) . . . but I do like it. I am not a huge fan of Idina Menzel's voice (to me, it has a slightly nasal-y quality) . . . but don't take that to mean that I don't think she can sing!

I will admit that I don't know this song cause I haven't seen the movie. I did have a listen and while it's alright, the soundtrack from The Little Mermaid has always been my fav!

I love it. I have loved Adele Dazeem so much ever since we saw her perform in Wicked. I was so happy when she got parts in Glee and then went on to do this movie!

I think with her voice, that song will end up ranking up there, but for now I still have other favorites. Bare Necessities, Part of Your World, Circle of Life, A Whole New World, Be Our Guest and a silly one - I Can't Wait to Be King.

I love it. I don't think another Disney song has been sung so passionately. Idina Menzel is so talented. It's in the top 5, I think.

I didn't like her Oscars performance, but the song is catchy and I find it absolutely adorable when I see or hear my friends' daughters singing ittttttt!
