My LO is a whiner at dinner time. She doesn't want to sit, doesn't want to eat, doesn't want a bib....rinse and repeat. It usually gets better after 5ish minutes but it is draining!

Doesn't eat, doesn't pick up after himself, loses temper but refuses to apologize... so many ways!

Won't go to sleep. Is currently all over me fighting sleep. Then he hurts me in some way (elbow in boob) and he says sorry all sweet. But it still hurts and he is still crawling on me.

I thought the definition of toddler = testing patience
He is incredibly stubborn, but he comes by it honestly! We can only blame ourselves I try to remind myself that when he drives me batty.

Ah, teeth brushing is our biggest challenge at the moment! Won't open her mouth, won't do this, won't do that...I am trying to build in time for this but it is driving me crazy right now!

@MamaCate: I will probably jinx it but LO doesn't mind brushing anymore! Finally...

She refuses to go to bed, we start at 8:30 and she won't fall asleep until 11:30. So tired. Oh and brushing her teeth, that's a knock down drag out session.

@StbHisMrs: and you have a baby and 2 other kids? Hugs Mama!

My biggest pet peeve right now is the throwing food off his dinner plate. He still wants to eat, he just thinks it's funny. Ugh! That and he's getting very possessive with toys 'nooooooo!!!!!' if another kid even looks at something he MIGHT want to play with

She insists on stealing my glass of water and running off with it.
Putting her pants back on after diaper changes always results into a wrestling match

You name it and my two boys do it. Some days I just want to go to my room and close the door and let them have at it. LOL! It's draining for sure... I can't even say who is less whiny...

@autumnlove: any tricks that have worked for you that you want to share?? We have been trying 5 minutes to play before we leave for school in the morning but it has been not perfect, and evenings are still hard...

@lemondrop: I agree! My LO tests my patience all day long. He loves to throw things (food, toys, etc) and makes every diaper change last 3x's a long because he is kicking and screaming.

Doing things she knows she isn't supposed to (climbing on tables, playing in dog food) and smirking at me when I tell her not to. Sometimes she'll do it and say "no" herself, but that doesn't stop her from doing it. Oh, and fighting every single diaper change. And getting into the carseat.

@LulaBee: @bushelandapeck: you mean to tell me car seat drama doesn't get better!? My 6 month old has never liked the car seat, I was hoping it was a phase! Waaaaaaaaaaaah!!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@LulaBee: ha! My 16 month old does that too. Shakes her head no, then proceeds to do said activity that she just declared a no-no. Oy. I need to work on my poker face too! I find it all funny. Oops.

@MamaCate: a purple glitter toothbrush...lol! Radius brand!

Gosh, Im so glad Im not the only one with a sleep fighter who waits hours after bedtime to finally go to sleep.
Honestly, that and the nap fighting/refusal is my biggest thing right now. Drives. me. nuts.

@bushelandapeck: carseat drama is no joke- she's fine once she gets in there though.
@.twist.: the drama is still going on at 17 months! It got a little better when we switched to a convertible carseat (out of infant carrier) because she can see more, but it's still a struggle most days.
@sorrycharlie: I have the worst poker face too! She probably continues to do it because I'm trying not to smile.

Oh god I don't remember the last time he went to sleep without crying, naps or otherwise. Car seat screaming. Refusing foods that he used to love. Diaper changes are a practice in how fast he can stand up.

1. She's discovered the word no, she used to agree with everything now it's "no momma" or "no no no" all the time.
2. Me brushing her teeth or trying to take her toothbrush from her, it's a tantrum every time.
3. feed the dog her veggies, she used to eat everything we gave her now all her veggies are being thrown on the floor for the pup. Sigh.

@autumnlove: Well my 11 year old puts himself to bed at 8-8:30 with no problem (I think he secretly is playing his ipod or DS in bed) but he doesn't fight me so I don't press it The baby is up and down through all of Maddy's nighttime drama!
I'll have to give that toothbrush a try too, I've bought so many different ones and she just hates them period.
We still have carseat drama at 27 months! She'll arch and try to slide down, or run around the car 15 times to get away

I guess my 4 year old is not considered a toddler anymore, right? But he tests my patience lately by saying "no!" when I ask him to do something. Or he responds with attitude... "o-KAYYYYY"...
My 1 year old toddler walks around whining... nonstop!!

@.twist.: It's sooo wrong They trick you! You switch them to a convertible seat and they are happy for a few months....then BAM! Back to fighting and screaming in the carseat! ugh. It's not bad every day but most days they are just fighting for their independence.

The past week she will not sleep more than 30-45 minutes (maybe an hour) by herself for naps. She will continue to sleep on my chest for 2 hours though if I rock her in her room. I want that free time so badly. I can leave her to cry or get her up and she can cry while following me around the house. There's no winning here.

@SeptMomma12: Must be something about these Sept 2012 babies I hope we have less whiny days ahead!
nectarine / 2878 posts
@SeptMomma12: @MrsF: Another Sept 2012 whiny toddler...he whines whenever I throw anything in the trash, even if it wasn't something he wanted. Whyyyy?
honeydew / 7283 posts
@lilyann: I feel so guilty that I laughed a little at him whining about the trash. These tiny little things seem to feel like the end of the world for a young toddler. M just had a total meltdown because she decided she had to get a whole bunch of chicken OUT of her mouth. Um... she put it in there, right?
Wishing for strength and patience for all of us!
