I've been told that since I'm getting a Chicco Keyfit I'll absolutely love the Keyfit Caddy that goes with it for the first few months. On one hand I'm curious about it and might like something lightweight, but we already have a few strollers and don't want to keep accumulating things. Is a Snap N Go type stroller that much more helpful? Or will I be fine with a Cruz?

I love love love love love my keyfit caddy. It is absolutely a life saver for us. Dont know how I would manage without it. I should add that our only other stroller is the City Elite which is huge and we did not buy the car seat adapter for it. Also the caddy is pricey for what it is but I found ours on NBD for cheap.

DD is 6 months and we have only used our Keyfit caddy. It is great for ease of use, and compact enough that we frequently bring it in to restaurants and pull it up to the table instead of a high chair as she can't quite sit up by herself yet.

I think it will depend on your baby. I loved the idea of attaching the car seat to the stroller, but I've only started using it now at close to 4 months. When she was very new, I wore her when I was shopping and out for walks because it was a guaranteed nap and kept her calm. The she started hating the carseat, so we couldn't leave her in there or she'd be screaming as I pushed her along. Now, she's ok in the carseat, so I've started using the stroller. It is pretty convenient for shopping.

I adore my snap and go. Seriously changed how errands went and more when we got it. We didn't have one at first and I wish we had.

Critical for the first 6 months. He would be asleep in the car and we could just pop out the car seat and put it in the snap and go and he'd keep sleeping!

We loved ours and did not have or buy another stroller for 6 months.

We never needed one. We hardly drive anywhere so it seemed silly to push her around in a car seat when we weren't ever in the car. Also we had a winter baby in Canada and needed a much sturdier stroller for snowy and icy sidewalks.

Was an essential for us! It was so much more convenient to transfer lo from the car to the snap n go when we were out running errands.

I have a question for those of you saying it's essential! Is a snap and go any more convenient than a stroller frame that's compatible with the car seat? Like @spaniellove: I have a Cruz, which fits with the infant car seat we have picked out. Why would a separate frame be necessary if I have that?

As long as you have the adapter for the Cruz you'll be fine (is there a Chicco adapter?). We don't have a snap n go and I've never wanted/needed one.

We don't have a snap and go. I just snapped my car seat (Britax) into our stroller (b agile) and that was fine for me. I don't really see why you'd need both a snap and go and a car seat friendly stroller.

@nana87: Thank you for asking! I was wondering the same thing, if the frame being light made a huge difference. I could see how immediately postpartum it might be convenient.

@nana87: @spaniellove: We have the Cruz and I don't find it heavy at all--especially when it's just the frame. Plus I only ever lift it from the back of my car to the ground (so I'm holding it for maybe 5 seconds?). I can't imagine a situation where a snap n go would've been more convenient.

A separate frame/Snap and Go is definitely not necessary if you have a car seat adaptor on your stroller. The only real reason to get it is to have a way to attach the carseat to your stroller (which is essential). We have the City Mini with carseat adaptor, and used it only with the carseat for the first 6 months or so.

@spaniellove: true that immediate postpartum it could be useful! I think we're going to skip it though--we won't be using the car seat that much anyway since we're in NYC and don't drive (really will mostly use it going home from hospital and the first couple pediatrician visits before immunizations kick in/before taking the subway or bus). Also, I just met some new parents of a 7 weeks old at a child care center tour who had a snap and go with their car seat and the mom said that while it was super convenient for getting in and out of cabs, she regretted the frame since the wheels weren't great for city life/long walks.

@lawbee11: Thank you so much for explaining this! I've been trying to figure out why it was necessary, but I think the person who told me I needed it didn't have the same stroller setup.
@nana87: Agreed, I'd worry about those wheels in the city too. I thought about whether I'd want it for a trip we have planned and thought nope, a lot of it is city/terrain so I'd just take the Cruz. Money saved!

We have the Cruz and got an adaptor to snap on the Chicco Keyfit. Worked great for us!

Never had one, never missed it. We used the moby and Ergo for the first 6 months, then switched to our stroller for some outings. At one year, we use oir city mini or Ergo depending on the outing or where we're walking to.

We got the stroller caddy so we could delay the stroller purchase until I knew which stroller would fit our lifestyle. Sounds like you know what you're getting though so you wouldn't have that benefit.

Never had one never needed one.
We had the b ready and just used the frame. It's not bad at all to use PP and the car seat clicks right in.
Compared to the cady frames I loved my stroller frame. Bigger wheels meant a smoother ride for a sleeping baby. A larger basket for storage (used it as a grocery cart even) and baby sits up higher and can face either way.

I have a Snap N Go I got from a friend of a friend. In the first few months, it was definitely helpful. It was great in the airport when he was about 8 months old. Now that he's 16 months old, we used a Go Go Babyz and attached it to our car seat for the airport.

@spaniellove: Our LO is 2 months old & we have used our "real" stroller (City Mini) about three times. We use our Keyfit Caddy a lot more - it's just easy, & I love that there's lots of storage space for bags when you are out & about. It also has cup holders which the City Mini doesn't have. I kind of question why we even have the "nice stroller" but I think we will use it more when she is older, and when the weather is nice & we go for walks outside.

We use ours nonstop and I can't imagine life without it but our other stroller is huge and heavy and with my c-section it wasn't even an option. If your other stroller is light and easy, you can probably skip it.

We didn't have one for our first LO we had the very bulky chicco travel system and I HATED it, so bulky and heavy and we never used it after she was out of her bucket seat as we preferred the umbrella stroller. Just picked up a snap n go for #2.

I also think it depends on the baby. My LO hated the car seat and didn't sleep in it for the first few months so we never had him in the car seat in the stroller. It also depends on whether you baby wear a lot. Honestly, now I'm glad LO didn't like it because it kept him from being in the car seat and stroller a lot. I was either wearing or holding him or he was on the floor.

I read through the additional postings. We he a snap and I because our car seat and regular stroller aren't compatible. If I had gone with a classic connect car seat, then we will just snap the car seat to the stroller and have no probs. we have a click connect car seat and the stroller is a classic connect. That's the only reason we have a snap and go. Otherwise we would have just used the other.

I think the main thing is that you won't really know what your kid will do until they're actually here. I thought my son would sleep in the infant bucket seat all the time and guess what, he didn't.

@winniebee: true...but we did the same thing with our City Mini and adapters. The adapters were less than $25 for our Britax B-Safe.
