I have just about 2 months before LOs birthday and I've been getting some ideas of pinterest and have made a few lists but that all I've really done.
When did you start planning?
ordering the cake?
ordering tables and chairs?

I ordered the cake 2 months in advance (i'm crazy), started DIY decorations about 4-6 months in advance.. it's all a blur now!
I've already starting thinking about baby 2's 1st birthday.. and I'm only 17 weeks pregnant!

ummm....since before she was born? hahha I'm neurotic!
But I'll probably make final decision on scheme/color maybe 2-3 months before hand so I can find the best deals on decorations!
@chopsuey119: oh gosh good point on time for DIY. I better settle on a scheme soon! She's already almost 3 months! Yikes,.

I was wondering the same thing...I have less than 4 months and I'm starting to freak out. I better start planning now!

I'll be 37 weeks on Wednesday and I've already started thinking about our daughter's 1st birthday. My reasoning is that she'll have a summer birthday and if I go with some kind of summer theme then things will be cheaper to buy this year because I can buy them on clearance instead of having to pay full price next year. My husband laughed at me and told me we should focus on getting her on the ground before planning any parties.
Plus, even if I started buying stuff now I'm sure I'll change my mind 43 times between now and then regarding a theme.

About 3 months for the food and then everything else, the month before. It was way more fun than I thought, especially with Pinterest. We had family, friends and coworkers take care of cupcakes and tables so I'm not sure but probably 2 weeks to a month would be good. The favors/centerpieces took awhile because I couldn't decide. Enjoy--Can't wait for the next party!!

I started DIYing 6 months in advance, and I'm so glad I did. I got VERY busy the months before LO turned one (which is next weekend!) becuase DH had surgery and I had surgeryand they were both very long recovery periods. Plus it was easier to do it when she was younger and not moving around as much and grabbing everything.
I'm pretty much everything DIY though so there's no need to order a cake or table and chairs. I'm just going to have my mom bring over extra chairs and I'm making cupcakes I did do favors about a month ago, sugar cookies and I already packaged them and froze them.

In Jan. I started. Quoted on the cake July. Only planned so early (her b-day's in Sept.) because I work (teach, 1st of the school year) and wouldn't have time.
