Last week my husband and I went to the hospital where I will be giving birth... without traffic we made about 20 minutes from our home there! It seems a little far for us but it is the only place my insurance is good for!

It's only a few miles from me so in theory like 10 minutes away...but with Boston traffic could be 20 minutes door to door!

It's about 25 minutes without traffic. With bad traffic it can be an hour! Definitely scary that it was so far. Luckily we didn't hit traffic both times, and most women seem to go into labor at night anyway!

Ours was very close, but in NYC, so distance means nothing. Luckily I didnt have to worry about going into labor (scheduled c-section) so we just had a casual drive there. It took about 45 minutes.
Although if I HAD gone into labor early, that would have sucked

Its about 25 minutes without traffic. I;ve thought about maybe changing to a closer a hospital but decided to stick with this place

I forgot to add with traffic it could be an hour as well for us! I sure hope I go into labor at night!

Anywhere from 10-30 minutes depending on NYC traffic!
ETA: And how long it takes us to get a cab!

35 minutes without traffic, up to an hour and 15 minutes with traffic. I ended up being induced, so it didn't matter, but I stressed out about it during my pregnancy.

It will take us about 10 minutes to get there, another 5 minutes to park and get up to the room (my best guess). We chose our hospital partly because of proximity.

Good grief! All you ladies with this traffic. I' m amazed at the time differences with traffic. Our hospital is about 20 minutes away only maybe 5 more minutes if there was a lot of traffic.

We're not sure where we're delivering yet--but both the hospital and birthing center are a 20 minute drive away. In traffic, because the hospital is in the city, it would probably take us longer to get there than the birth center.

Wow, so many of you are so far away! I think we live within 5 minutes of 2 different hospitals. But a large majority of my city probably is at least 20 minutes out, if I think about it. We just happen to live close to downtown, which is where the hospital is at.

10 minutes with no traffic, 20ish with? We live in the same city as our hospital.

Our midwifery is about 10-15 minutes away. But we will be moving before the baby is born HOPEFULLY and it might make it a little bit longer of a trip but I am not worried about it.

We are way closer to other hospitals but my insurance group only accepts deliveries at the hospital that is quite a ways away.. However I dont mind since the hospital is only for women in labor and newborns :).

About 30-40 minutes without traffic, can be over an hour with traffic... but usually traffic only delays things by 10-15 mintues.

About 30 minutes without traffic and around 45 minutes with traffic.

We're having a homebirth so zero! IF I need to be transferred the hospital is roughly 5 minutes away with stop lights.

Our hospital is about 20-25 minute drive from our house. We picked his one because its nicer and bigger than the closer hospitals and one of our friends who recently delivered there had a great experience.

Our hospital is about 20 minutes away. I went into labor at night and we were there pretty quick. But since you normally do a lot of the early laboring at home, you could always go a little earlier then you think you need to if it's at a trafficy time of day.

About 20 minutes away! I pre-registered so it took about 10 minutes to get me to my L&D room after we got to the hospital!

It's about a mile from the house. Even with Boston traffic, road construction, snowstorm, etc., it would only be a few minutes.

I can actually walk to the hospital I'm delivering at in under ten minutes- it's just up the road. A big improvement over the three hour drive to the hospital from when I had my daughter.

We're about 25-30 minutes from my doctor and the hospital. We have a hospital about 5 minutes away but from the research we've done so far, we felt more comfortable with the further doctor and hospital and what they offer. I'm a bit worried but most people I know were about 20-30 minutes from their hospital and they've all said it's just fine. We may move closer in a few months though which would be nice.

3 hours away for your daughter? Wow... how did that go?!

I'm feeling better - I thought everyone's was going to be supah close - I'm also 25-45 minutes away depending on traffic. hopefully it'll happen in the middle of the night though & there won't be any

The only hospital in our city is 7 minutes away in no traffic, about 15 minutes away if there is a bit of traffic. Add in parking and walking into the hospital, you can add another 5 minutes or so. I have briefly considered driving to my hometown 3 hours away, because I work in NICU and work closely with the LDR nurses, and it would be nice to have some anonymity (LOL).

About 15 minutes. If all the lights on there would actually be green it would probably take half the time since it's only around 3 miles away.

I was 2 hours. Yup, 2 hours. We're in the middle of nowhere, and while there was a closer hospital, it was very small and I decided to take my chances going farther for better care.

About 10 minutes. We had to choose between that one and another one that is 20 minutes away. All other things ended up being pretty much equal, so I let my husband decide since he will be doing all of the driving. Much easier/safer to go let the dog out being sleep deprived and only 10 minutes away and not going onto a highway.

15-20 minutes depending on traffic. We could probably make it in closer to 10 if I go into labor in the middle of the night.

The hospital that I would go to is about 10 minutes away. In traffic about 15 minutes.
My brother and his fiance switched hospitals about 2 months before she gave birth. They went from a hospital that was 15 minutes away to about 30 minutes away.
There is a hospital that allows water births but it's about 45 minutes away. I wonder how common it is to go to a hospital that far away. I might consider it.
