My son is turning 3 this spring, and I'm looking at different venues trying to decide which would be the best for a party. I want to invite all his friends from our mommy group, so it would be about 15 kids. The party would be about 2-3 hours long, and I'm considering bounce houses, petting zoos or parks. How far would you drive for a child's birthday party?

Totally depends how close we are to the parents. For mom's group friends, I said 11-20 minutes, but we live in a very dense area and almost everyone lives that close to us.

31-40 minutes...everywhere with the traffic takes time. I'd travel even longer if I'm actually friends with the parents too.

Depends on how good of friends and what the venue is, but I voted 20-30 min. Would go farther for closer friends or a really cool venue, like something we could make a day of, the zoo, a park with several appealing things to do etc

I drive over an hour for the parties for my friends' kids. For a mom group, it would probably be max of 30 minutes.

for a close friend, over an hour. for a classmate of DS's or a casual friend/neighbor, a half hour.

At this point, no more than 30 min. DD is still youngish (13 mo) and still on 2 naps and does not like car rides as it is so I try not to go far! When she's older like your DS' age I'd def be more open to driving further but probably under an hour.

most of our friends live at least 30 minutes away, even in the city so I would probably drive for up to an hour.

For that relationship, max 30 minutes. Closer friends probably around an hour.

For a real friend 45 minutes seems reasonable (that's assuming we are friends with the parents). I drove an hour to a friend's daughters bday party because I hadn't seen her in a long time.
@psw27: same- I feel like it takes half an hour to get anywhere besides target from where we live!
