I think it is fun for some people, they have ping pong tables for breaks. I don't fit in with the company culture very much so it's not fun for me at all. I like my boss and a handful of co-workers so that's good but it's far from fun.

Geez not that kind of fun. We are client facing all day so we really can't goof off. But I have some co workers who are close friends and that makes the office more pleasant.

Nope no fun here. The occasional baby shower or retirement party.

I wish we could have more fun though! We would probably get the side eye though because we have to bill our hours.

Pretty fun. We don't have anything like your husband has but we laugh a lot. I'm a lawyer at a small firm and the core group of us have worked together for a long time and we really make an effort to hire people that we think will click with us personally and professionally. So even though we're doing stressful work, our culture is very relaxed because everyone really likes one another.

Depends on the day! A lot of times I get to go to student events, which are really fun. But my day to day isn't necessarily fun.

Eh. I work for a welfare office, and it's not really a happy place. But I work with my friends, so that helps a lot. And my department likes to celebrate...someone brings in donuts or cookies or something at least once a week, and we'll use any excuse to throw a luncheon. The office as a whole has the occasional fun thing...we do big fundraising drives for charity in the late summer/fall. Last year it was carnival themed, and they sold popcorn every day, had a tailgating party, cute pet contest, and one day they set up a dunk tank and sold popcorn and sno-cones.

Overall the office itself is pretty stodgy, with a ton of rules (we can get "talked to" about wearing sneakers, for example).

D's company does a lot of really fun things, though! Bowling parties and cookouts and company parties every quarter or so, family bike rides, craft beer swaps, "bike throws" for charity (literally throwing bikes...he works for a cycling company). It's a very laid-back culture.

In hindsight, my previous job was fun (before SAH). At the time I didn't feel that way. It was a celebrity news and style magazine, so we had lots of celebrity drop-ins, days where baby kangaroos hopped around the office, constantly got to try new snack foods that they wanted us to write about, liquor companies dropping in on a friday to give us samples, beauty samples always laid out for grabbing, and work discussions and content could be pretty fun (hottest men, best dressed at red carpet events, etc)...that being said, the politics of the company made the job pretty unenjoyable, so the perks sprinkled in made it just bearable.

Current job- nope. Previous job- yes! We would have company hosted happy hours in our courtyard once or twice a quarter. My department would lots of team building events that were a lot of fun. We had a ping pong table, pool table and Foosball table. The culture there was a lot nicer since it was a software company.

I work in a hospital so no. Actually that's not true! Since it's a children's hospital, most of the people love kids and it shows. I really enjoy being silly and joking around with my patients, or taking a spare minute to cuddle a little one who's parents aren't around. Kids are so amazing and resilient! They make the hard days at work worth it!

My company has a ping pong table, a video game console, and a keg in the office. We also have an annual company offsite where the entire company meets up in a tropical location for four days.

We theoretically expect employees to work 50 hours weeks, but I usually log 40 plus the occasional evening/weekend email check.

I'm a middle school teacher and overall I think my job is fun. Some days are more fun than others obviously. We have lots of school-wide events like B-ball and volleyball games, international day, square dancing, field trips. Those are usually the most fun!

Yep I love my job! They work really hard to only bring in people who would be a good fit with all of us so it's an office of really great friends. Frequently have beer on stressful days or Fridays and usually a fun outside of office activity once a quarter. It's a very small but growing company so for now it's pretty laid back.

Not THAT fun! lol. We don't play games or anything. But it's somewhat fun in that I work in an office with 4 other people and our work is often very mindless so we spend a lot of time sitting around bullshitting. After 1.5 years home with my kiddo and 6 years before that working home alone, I'm sort of enjoying having a lot of fun adult conversation. (Helps I really like my coworkers).

@looch: ditto. I bill all my time so I can't really goof off for an hour for a Wii tournament. We also work in a professional field so it wouldn't look very good of a client came into the office and people were playing video games!

That being said, I do have fun at work. I laugh and joke with my coworkers and fit well into the firm culture. I think that is really important.

My office is pretty fun. We have a game room on campus, though it's far from where I am. We have hackathons 2x/year, which are fun and creative. Our theme for the next one is the 90's, so they showed the movie "Hackers" in the caf for 2 hours yesterday. We have Friday afternoon happy hours with free beer, random parties for stuff, and various outings. There's also a classic video game console in one area, and a giant box of legos.

It's kind of a work hard/play hard environment with lots of off the wall people.
