I don't have practical experience yet, but this was a must item for me because I don't plan on nursing in the bedroom.
From a lot of threads I've read, it seems like a comfortable rocker/glider is a big deal, especially early on. But I understand about space issue though... I just got mine yesterday and it is on the smaller side of gliders I'd been looking at. Once it was in the room with the gliding motion space & the matching gliding ottoman (I think that's unnecessary though), it takes up a lot more space than I had anticipated. In pictures or in your head, you just think of the non-moving space it occupies, but in reality, you need to give it space to move and not hit the wall or other furniture.
That said, I'm already SO pleased that we have the glider chair because I know it will get used a ton and it's super comfy! I just want to sit in it all the time already!

@JoJoGirl: Yeah, I posted about a gliding ottoman awhile back and it seems unnecessary, especially in a tight space. A lot of moms said something stationary or a foot rest was perfectly fine. We just got it because I got a killer deal on the set. I think your set-up like that would be fine!

I nurse in bed and couch, but the glider is a lifesaver when she's super fussy and walking/bouncing/shushing/swaying etc etc etc don't work.

I sit in the glider, and the second my bum hits it she calms. Not sure why, but I'm so glad! We bought Best Chairs Kamilla at BBB.

I have spent literally hundreds of hours in my glider with our fussy, colicky baby. Even now at 22mo we sit and rock in it a lot, bc DD usually wakes up cranky after her nap. I'd probably get rid of the low dresser if space is at a premium. You can just change the baby on the floor or on your bed.

I didn't get a glider with Lo and was fine.
No glider for #2 and a-ok!

i haven't used my glider yet, but it was a must for me after nannying my nephew. i only watched him from 7:30-3:30, but managed to use it multiple times a day every single day! it worked wonders.

I had one for DS and don't have one this time around with DD... I usually nurse in bed or on the couch which I can get more comfortable than sitting up anyways. Glad we didn't worry about getting one this time.

our kids slept in their cribs from day one and you definitely need a seat of some kind in the nursery. there will be many a night when you're rocking your lo, and the glider for me is a must. i still use it multiple times a day (olive is almost 15 months old). it's been through 2 kids and was well worth every last penny!

I thought most gliders were hideous and was trying to get just a comfy recliner used. I the end we bought the babyletto one from babies r us and I'm so glad we did because I use it every night for her middle of the night feeding. It was on sale for $300 and is pretty small.

We just have an ikea chair and its fine. I think you just need a comfy space to sit. I didn't like any of the gliders we could afford, and all the nice looking ones were way too expensive (in my opinion)

We got a recliner instead of a glider and love it. SIL has a glider and I'm not a fan.

We have a recliner and yes, I would die without it! DS was only in our room for two weeks. We would have kept him there longer, but he is a very noisy sleeper and I woke up at every noise he made. I tried nursing in bed and on the couch, but DS nurses best in the recliner. It's comfortable enough to sleep in. We got the Best HF/Storytime Series Tryp.

ETA: I wasn't sure how we were going to fit it in the nursery, but we ended up putting it angled in a corner next to the dresser. It sticks out a little, but it's worth it!

I prefer our Lazy Boy recliner, gliders aren't as comfy as that bad boy is! But we have a ranch style house, so I don't have stairs to deal with to go use it.
