Okay, so we spent over and hour last night trying to decide on a glider. Part of it is that my husband is an architect and is very picky about the style...must be modern with clean lines, and something we would be willing to use in the house later on. I am picky about wanting an ottoman and it to be comfortable. So we are trying to decide between two...my husband is okay with either of them, but one is more comfortable than the other, particularly in that it has good head support. But, it's also about $350 more than the other one, that is also comfortable, but less head support. What would you do? How much do you really rely on your glider?

We use our glider multiple times a day at 15 months. Before naps and bed we nursed in it as well. I'd say we spend at least 30 mins a day in it now and when DS was waking multiple times a night it was an hour or two. If you can swing the additional cost I absolutely would

I was fairly picky about style, but I did also want something comfortable so we ended up going around to a few stores and trying out the ones I liked online (just going by looks).
It was pricey---the only pricey thing I bought for the nursery/LO. But the company we ordered from kept messing up our order and it came in 3 months late, so we ended up getting it for free.
We went for a glider from the Dutailier Modern upholstered collection (with ottoman). Here's a pic, where the glider is partially cut off on the left (it's in our living room now).

You will use it so much that in the long run, $350 will be a moot point. If you take the total cost and divide it by the amount of months or years you'll be using it, $350 is pretty negligible.

I've had two EBF babies and never did the glider thing and never regretted it. I have a regular armchair in one nursery and a futon in the other. So in the end, will you miss the money more than the comfort? I'd say if you find the cheaper one comfortable, than I wouldn't spring for the extra, especially if the extra headroom one would look out of place once you moved it out of the nursery.

With a newborn, I've been spending up to 5 hours a day (and night) nursing in our glider. We were also still using it every day for stories / songs for my two year old until we had to steal it for the baby. I would say that comfort (especially head support for those MOTN feedings) is VERY important.

I think it depends on what's important to the person who will be using it most. For me, aesthetics trumped comfort and price. My husband wanted comfortable but I knew he wouldn't be using it so I didn't concede to his ugly choice! We spend a fair amount of time in the glider and it's comfortable enough but definitely not the most nursing friendly. If you want comfortable go for comfortable! My advice is to imagine what it would be like nursing in it - arm rest, where babies head will be, if there's a place for you to rest your head...

Oh and you don't nexessarily need to find one with a matching ottoman! We had a pouf custom made - functional and adds something fun to the room!

LO is 2 years old, and we still use it every day to read books. It's just a comfortable chair and with twins on the way I see myself using it even more. Right now it's in a little flex space between the kids' rooms but someday we plan on putting it in the family room so hope to get many more years out of it. Head support is important since you will probably find yourself falling asleep in it. If you can afford the more expensive and it's less likely to give you a crick in the neck, totally worth it.

$350 spread over the many years of use...totally worth it. Especially for those MOTN feedings. Comfort is super important and worth the extra $$$!

When it comes to furniture I always get something that I love the most! It is better to get what you really want because you'll be stuck with it.

I dunno, I could think of a lot of other ways to spend $350, so jury is out for me, until we see some pictures!

I am torn. I think $350 is a lot, at least for my family. If it isn't for yours then get the one you love.

I think it depends on how much you think you will use it. I honestly didn't use my glider much. I hated being trapped in the nursery when lo was eating and I spent most of my time on the couch with him instead, where I could still talk to DH or watch tv. We also started "drowsy but awake" putting him to sleep from the beginning, so I never had the long hours rocking that some moms and dads experience.
If I was going to invest a lot of money in something I would have bought a really great comfy rocking recliner for the living room instead, with a less expensive glider or rocker in the nursery for the middle of the night feedings.

$350 more? That is a huge price difference to me. I guess it depends on how much more comfortable we're talking here, but I would try to make the cheaper one work, personally.

I would pick the cheaper option!
I never slept in the rocker - during the day I nursed on the couch and would sleep there with my LO
