Was it from when your LO took their first steps until they were confidently walking? M took her first steps yesterday at just barely 10 months!! She can do three in a row before she falls. How long do we have left before she's full on walking?!? I'm scared!

Not long! Maybe a week or two? Once she gets comfy, she'll be running around like crazy!

My LO took her first steps over a month ago and still isnt confidently walking. I def think it varies!

P took around about a week but he was a late walker at 14 months so maybe that's he he just took off.

It was about a month. But every kid is different and I think it depends on how much opportunity they get to try out walking. It's an exciting time!! Get ready!

We're just under a month into walking and LO is 11m, the last week or so she is really starting to "go". Less wobbly, more efficient and fast, and just looks way better at it!

DD took her first steps at 10 months, too, and by her first birthday she was a confident walker.

E took his first steps at 9 months and it was about a month before he was confidently walking. I asked this question before and it seemed like the early walkers took a little longer to walk exclusively and the later walkers picked it up fast!

DS took his first steps at right at 11 months, and then refused to walk again until about a week before his 1st birthday. Once he got the hang of it, he was toddling around pretty confidently within the week, and was walking pretty well by his birthday.

A few days, maybe. She was a very late walker at 16 months.

About 2-3 days...he was just over 10 months when he took his first steps and then started going full speed ahead about 2 days later....it was awful lol

a couple of weeks for us! he took his first steps thedaybefore his first birthday, and 2 weeks later it was like he'd always been walking!

wow! 1 month later DD was a good walker, but she still fell a lot.

Tor was an early walker. Took a few steps at 9 months and a week later he was full on walking. By 10 months he was a pro. I think every baby is different but its always good to baby proof!!!

I didn't really count "first steps" til she could take about 5-6 so between then and now it's been about a month and she mostly walks but still wobbles when she is tired and still falls often enough. She also holds onto things sometimes. Not much crawling happening here though. Her dirt steps probably were a week or two before that?

Why are you scared though? The falling? I haven't noticed a difference in accidents or the things she gets into since walking...just faster now! She can run on occasion. I think it fun but then again I'm not a huge "baby person."

C took his first steps at 15 months and is still happy crawling 90% of the time at 16 months...

T basically waited until he knew how to fully walk to walk. He started taking 5-6 steps at a time at 14 months and within a week was walking more than crawling and within a few weeks wasn't crawling at all. I actually preferred him walking to crawling because he was more independent and he was into everything while crawling anyways!

A few days -- less than a week. Our daughter didn't take her first steps until 14 months, but as soon as she took them, it was almost no time before she was walking confidently. She was clearly ready.

B started walking at 9.5 months (a few steps) but really got the hang of it around 10.5 months.
E took longer, at 12 months exactly but it only took a week for her to take off!

LO took his 1st steps just a few days after he turned one, but at 13 months, he's still only taking a few steps at a time. He's a cautious little guy, that's for sure! He is starting to let go of things more and more on his own and this past week he's taken anywhere from 10-15 steps on his own off and on.

R took 4-5 steps yesterday, twice. Today she only did two and then fell. She walks great with the walker and holding onto our hands.

@Smurfette: About 3 weeks. First steps were after she turned ten months and she was full in walking before she turned 11 months. Go R!!!

@MamaMoose: I hope R is just as fast. I am so excited for her to walk. My bday is Feb 5, I want it for my gift. Day care told me they would get on it. Haha!

@Smurfette: We are the same but I think R is steadier standing up. L will only stand by himself for a few seconds before he sits down. But he is into this idea of walking for sure! Yesterday we only got a couple steps out of him. So curious to know how long until he starts really walking well. I can't wait either. Kid is killing my back!

@travellingbee: Yes! My back too. And we have to follow her around the house with the walker cause she gets stuck and can't figure out how to turn it. She is definitely finally more comfortable just standing now and isn't as wobbly. She stands up, goes down to a squat, and then stands back up. Who knows though, she could take another month before she starts really walking. It is so exciting, I just want her to do it now!

@Smurfette: Ha ha. L finally figured out how to not get stuck with the walker. He pulls it back and turns it. And then keeps running along. He is so fast! But without it, he will stand and then squat down but won't get back up. Yesterday he stood up on the middle of our bed (using dad's legs to push up) and just stood there for about 10-15 seconds, legs spread like he just got off a horse LOL. Such a fun phase. So much learning!
ETA- when I say walker, I mean push toy. We don't have a walker he sits in.

our LO was crazy, she would walk around furniture/with her toys for 2 months. But her first "steps" were 20 in a row and she was off from that point on. We never had a "in between" period of her taking a few steps, when she did she was off. She was scared for the longest time, even though she could do it.
