As soon as I could feel both legs I took a shower. It was amazing! I got to my room around 3 pm and probably showered by 9.

My situation was different, but I showered about 12 hours after my delivery. I delivered at 4:30 a.m. and we went home around 4 p.m. and I showered as soon as we got home. In the hospital, I didn't wear any make-up, mainly because I had cried it all off before going, but I wish brought some of my own pillows from home. I didn't get enough at the hospital and they couldn't really give me anymore. I felt like I could never could sit up high enough..

I had a c-section. And my catheter exploded overnight so I was all in all very very gross and wanted that shower. At 12 hours after surgery I begged to shower. They let me after.... about lunchtime? I delivered at 7 pm.

I had an epi and 2nd degree tear. I didn't shower until the morning we left the hospital. I ended up losing too much blood and not being able to get out of bed without blacking out. I finally got a blood transfusion a like midnight the night before we were discharged. I jumped in that shower as soon as I could walk to the bathroom!

I don't remember but I'm pretty sure it was the next day. Usually I'm all for showering but I remember any type of getting up seeming unappealing for some time. The first time I got up to go pee was like a bloodbath. I had an epi and an episiotomy but I'm not sure there's any relation to the showering situation in my case. I remember being scared to get anything wet down there too....

Cam was born at 9:50 pm, had an epidural and second degree tear. I showered about 12 hours later. As everyone else says, best shower ever!

I believe at the birth center I'm going to they draw up a herbal bath for Mama and Baby right after the birth, after an hour or two, and then you have the option to shower with a special shower chair so you don't have to stand up.
But you only stay at the birth center 4-6 hours after birth anyway, so I guess you'd have to get cleaned up quick.

an hour or so both times I think? I had stitches the first time but no epidural. Felt so good (the shower, not the stitches).

@Mrs. Superhero: I'm imagine it burning with the hot water running over the stitches...am I right or does the water not reach down there directly?

I had C by forceps w/ a spinal block because my epi didn't work. I had to wait until the next morning when the spinal wore off completely.

Seriously the BEST shower I have ever taken. Period.

I had a csection and DS was born at 9:17pm. I showered sometime the next afternoon. It was a miserable experience. I was in pain and I was scared to touch my incision or get it wet. I was really grateful that the nurse suggested it though. I needed it.
