I've lived in Atlanta for 2 yrs, and I am finally developing some friendships. It's hard meeting people these days!

Longer than 3 months that's for sure! We've been living in Cincinnati for a little over 2 months and have yet to make any new friendships.
It doesn't help that we are kind of in an in-between. We are both 23 and recently married, but nobody else we know is in this situation. People are either our age, single and mingling or in their 30s with children. The one couple that we are closest to are also in the in between, since they are 24 with a 2 year old. We know some people form our college that live in the city but all of them also fall into one of the 2 categories.

At least 6 months, but easily over a year to really establish any of those friendships. It's definitely harder as a SAHM, than when I was working. We've been in our city for 2.5 years and I can say that I finally have friends here, but it took a long time.

I've been in Toronto for 2.5 years and I'm finally feeling like I have friends outside of DH's friend's wifes and girlfriends. It's taken a long time to find my place here.

@oliviaoblivia: I know how you feel. Meeting people outside of my husband's friends and their wives is difficult!
I'm also a sahm, and I've never worked in an environment where it was possible to meet new people/evolve friendships.

I've only just made friends since having my son and I'd lived here for 2 years before that. The fact that I just worked with my husband limited my opportunities to meet people and it's just hard. Luckily I've met some really great girls with kids Linus' age through the children's centre. It's so nice to finally have girl friends again!
Good luck!
