i know Mrs. Confetti did a poll recently regarding TTC your first but i am curious how long it took most of you to TTC your next baby. If you have time i would also love to hear in comments how long your first took and how they compared. Just curious because i know your body can change a lot after a pregnancy or with nursing or other factors at play. In my case my cycles have changed a lot. we are partially weening my son right now which may help and i am taking B complex. I wanna see how it differs on average.

We were actively trying for the first...we figured it might take awhile since we are older. I was 36..DH was 42. It took us 4 months. My period came back about 3 or 4 months after I gave birth and they were normal cycles. I'm still nursing DS at 19 months and am 23 weeks pregnant after one time of unprotected sex. We weren't trying yet so it came as a bit of a shock!

@MrsMccarthy: We were NTNP the first cycle both times, then the second month we tried both times (yeah I have no patience) and it worked.

1st cycle actively trying each time
With DS, I got off the pill (had been on it 10+ years) right after my wedding and waited 3 cycles to start trying. We used condoms during the interim if it was around the middle of my cycle. My cycle was 28 days. The first cycle we tried, we got pregnant.
With this pregnancy, I got off the pill and waited a few cycles to try. We didn't use protection because honestly it's a lot harder to BD when you have a 1 year old! My cycle was longer right when I got off the pill - around 33 days and each month it decreased by about a day. So the month we actively tried, I used a digital OPK to make sure timing was right and got pregnant that cycle.

8 months but 7 cycles of TTC for #2. Still bfing 2-3x a day.
LO #1 took 9 cycles but almost one year of TTC.
Eta: when my period returned pp it was slightly different. Before #1 all my periods were 40-45 days. Pp my first bunch were 40-45 days then suddenly the past three cycles of TTC were 28-29 day cycles.
I didn't vote because none of the options applied to me.

With #1 I came off depo I August, she was my 2nd pregnancy (6 cycles later, first was supposed to be a Sept 2012 baby with you).
#2 was 1 cycle following surgical removal of Mirena, happened way faster than we ever could have imagined and were told.

9 months actively trying to get #2's BFP, as opposed to 11 months for C's. We said we would take a month off here and there, but ended up trying anyway since it was taking a while. I breastfed the whole time, but was getting closer to weaning towards the end (3x/ day instead of 6+)

Conceived on my first cycle coming off BCP. I was charting as birth control but it didn't work out. I was still breastfeeding LO at the time!

We were NTNP with DS and I got pregnant pretty quickly.
With DD, we were actively TTC and it took 5 cycles.

Took about a year, but less than 12 cycles for #2! Took more than 4 years for #1.

We were not preventing after #1 was born. My period came back at 4 months pp (after I stopped BFing) and I got pregnant with #2 that month.

With our first we literally got pregnant the day we decided to stop using protection.
We've been trying for our second since September. It feels like an agonizingly long time.
