Moving into our first home in *hopefully* a week, and wondering realistically how long it will take to unpack. Prior to LO, I was a super efficient unpack-er (word?) and was able to unpack/decorate in a day! I hate hate hate not having everything in it's place and seeing boxes everywhere!

Well, we might be in a different boat because we've been doing updating to the house here and there while we are unpacking but... 3 months later and we are finally unpacked!
I was JUST like you before. With our last move we were in and settled and throwing a combo birthday/housewarming party within 2 weeks.
This time, I am being more relaxed so that I can avoid doing anything twice. Basically, until all the furniture is where it goes, the shelves and artwork can't go up. Until the shelves are up, the boxes of collectibles can't be unpacked, etc. So it's taken a lot longer just due to the fact that someone has to wrangle the mobile baby, but also because I am being more intentional about it. -
About 2 weeks.

About a week with a 14 month old and we rented a furnished home....and only moved about 1/2 our clothes and a few kitchen boxes! But, he was only on one nap and was in a needy phase.

We moved at the end of March and I just unpacked the last box of sweaters over the weekend...

We did it in a week. My mom was here helping with the baby so that helped.

@BoogieBea: my mom is flying out for a week to help us so that should help a lot! She can watch lo while we organize and unpack!
@looch: packing has taken us about a month, at the end of the day I'm so tired so I've just been doing a little at a time! I can see unpacking going this way as well..

This is also the first home we've owned. So I took unpacking and moving-in differently this time for that reason as well. I went slowly not just because of the baby, but because I didn't want to unpack only to move everything later to where it made more sense.

@NovBaby1112: We did have a good amount of stuff, but also we were doing a lot of decorating and after the first month I was just tired all the tiem and it got away from me. Better to just get it all done ASAP, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Oh man, this thread scares me --- I also like to unpack immediately! I'm jut prepared that that is not going to be the reality this time around haha,.. Hopefully it goes smoother than you think! Ps - moving 2 weeks from Friday. ZERO packed.

We moved into our house in July and there's still so much left to do. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take off any time for work so we sort of had to throw stuff in the basement as we've already thrown 2 parties and will throwing DS's 1st birthday party in 3 weeks. To be fair, I'm not one that needs everything to be unpacked and on the walls immediately. I'm hoping I'll have more time this winter to really go through things and make a game plan on how to decorate/buy furniture.

Our house is functional but not 100% unpacked (and 0% decorated) and we moved in July with a 2 1/2 month old.

@hellobeeboston: ahhh 2 weeks?? For some reason I thought you guys were moving late Nov....that's so soon!! Make DH take J for the day one weekend- to the zoo or something?- that's what I made DH do and I got sooo much packing done during the day without any interuptions!
So it sounds like unpacking with a baby is def harder than without, but going to try and relax about it and not be stressed if everything isnt put away within a week or so!

a few days? we had a lot of family and friends helping us on the day we moved. i got the last few boxes unpacked over the next few days during nap time.
and i will admit, we've lived here 9 months now and still aren't decorated.

2 to 3 days, I can't stand things disorganized so unpacking was more important to me than sleep.

A few days, our first move was when LO was 2 months old. I go crazy when things are disorganized, so I *had* to get it done.
