I'm debating how long we want to keep LO in our room after he is born. I don't want to put him in his crib in his bedroom (right next to ours) right away....but DH has a funky work schedule and gets called in the middle of the night sometimes.
What did you do?

We only did it for a week and then she was in the crib in her room.

2 weeks, she's a noisy sleeper (grunts and gurgles in her sleep) and she kept waking me up. Now she's in her own room.

LO is five weeks old and I think we are going to move him this weekend. He is a pretty noisy sleeper and I think we will all sleep better. Plus I already take him into his room to change and feed him so it will be easier to just leave him in there.

No baby yet but we plan on keeping her in our room for 3 months or so (12 weeks).

DD is 2 1/2 months and is still in our room. We want to get one of those angel care monitors before putting her in her own room.

I started out thinking we would crib-train LO by 4 months... 4 months came and then I said 6 months.... now he's 7 months and still in our bed. He starts off in his crib and can put himself to sleep, but after the midnight feeding, he's in bed with us.

2 months. And then we put him in the crib in his room. Then we slept with him in his room. And now he sleeps by himself in his room and he's 2 years old. Man..what a loooong transition from our room to sleeping by himself in his room!

Baby X is still in our room at 6 months. But that's because we're in a 1br apartment-- there's no where else for him to go! I'm pretty sure we'll all sleep better once he's in his own room. It's hard to have all 3 of us and the dog in there! We're moving before the end of July, and come hell or high water, he will have a room of his own in our new place.

Here in Canada the health regulations say to keep baby in a crib in your room for at least 6 months, so that's what I'm planning on doing. We're 2 weeks in and I see that it will work out well. DH is sleeping in the guest room though.

6 weeks. That's when she grew out of the bassinet, otherwise I would have waited longer. But I'm glad we did move her we all slept better that way.

She'll be 8 weeks on Saturday, still in our room. Once she starts STTN we'll move her over to her nursery. She does nap in her crib every day though

My LO was 3.5 months, give or take. I wasn't ready to let her go, but she started to outgrow the bassinet, so I knew it was crib time.

4 weeks. The day my parents left we put him in his crib in his room and we all slept 6 hours straight for the first time!!

About 3 weeks consistently. We spent one weeks half and half and last night (she's 1 month old today) she spent the whole night in the crib.
DH and I need our privacy and we figured the sooner the better.

My LO was sleeping in our pack n play bassinet in our room for 4 months. She has been sleeping 10-12 hours since 2 months but I wasn't ready to move her!
We put her in the crib last night and she fell asleep right away!

0 hours, we started her in her crib and have been very happy with that arrangement.
With #2 we're thinking maybe using the pack-n-play in our room but that is mostly motivated by the fact that both kiddos will be sharing a room and I don't want #1 waking up everytime #2 gets up to eat.

LO isn't here yet but my goal is to have him/ her in the nursery full time by four weeks. Who knows how it will play out though..

Our LO stayed in her bassinet in our room for about 2 weeks. Then, she started to get fussy in it at night, but napped perfectly fine in her crib in the daytime so we tried her in her crib one night, and she's been sleeping there since. I think I'd prefer her to still be in our room at 4 weeks old, but her crib is where she wants to be I guess.

3 months. On one hand, I think he and I both slept better once we moved him to the crib in his own room. On the other hand, even at 3 months DS was still only sleeping about 2 hours at a time, so it was nice to have him right there for feedings.
For the first month or so, our MO was that DS slept in the cosleeper next to my side of the bed, and when he woke up, I'd pick him up and feed him (which could take anywhere from 10-40 minutes at that stage), and then I'd wake DH up, DH would go change DS, and we'd put him back in the cosleeper. I liked the fact that this system kept DH involved- I think I'd have gotten resentful if I felt like DH could just sleep through the night while I had to get up every two hours, walk to the baby's room, feed him, change him, put him back, etc. But DH also took three weeks off work, so that meant I didn't feel bad waking him up so often

@cvbee: That's the recommendation here in the UK too, but I don't know any mums that have actually waited 6 months. We were just discussing today that they say it's to prevent SIDS, but if SIDS is going to happen, it will happen whether they're in your room or another...
Anyway our son is 9 weeks and he generally does his first sleep in his crib in his room and then ends up joining us to co-sleep the remainder of the night. That's been the last week and a half or so and last night he did 2 stretches in his crib, so I'm working to get him fully transitioned. I figure it's a process.

Oh, also... before baby came I was all "He's going in the crib from day one. We definitely aren't co-sleeping." So... yeah... be prepared to change your mind once the baby is actually here

We have a pack and play in our room, he slept in that at night until his 1 month pediatrician appointment. No real reason other than me being a worried mommy. Shortly after that we bought an audio monitor so I could hear him in the nursery if he woke up at night.
