I got a Mirena IUD put in exactly 2 months ago, and I've been heavily spotting every single day since.
I'm a little over 6 months pp and AF hasn't shown up yet, so not sure what my periods will look like, but I'm already so sick of this bleeding! Is this normal?
How long did you spot for after getting the Mirena put in?

I spotted for 6 or 7 weeks after insertion (had it put in at 6 months pp). I haven't had any spotting since but I'm still having monthly periods.

I think 2 months? It was ridiculous. But after that, i didn't really get a period. There were some weeks where i'd have very light spotting, and months where i'd have nothing.

None. But I was told it's totally normal to bleed for up to 6 months.

6 weeks, and then 6 or 7 months with nothing, then started up again (it's been 8-9 weeks now? Off and on every few days. Lame.)

I'm very happy with it. I haven't had any side effects after the initial spotting.

I just had spotting for 2 or 3 days. It's the second time I've had Mirena if that matters.

I spotted for about 2 months and was cramping and seriously not happy with it and considering having it taken out... then it all went away and I love my Mirena now. Give it a little more time.

@Mrs. High Heels: Besides the initial and this recent spotting I've loved it. That chunk of time with nothing? It was great. No other side effects at all. I think the current spotting is something wonky with me, not it.

@Mrs. High Heels: I spotted forever...several months...and once I thought it stopped it would start again a few weeks later...it was awful. It's like I was on my period every 2 weeks. I got it March 2012 and I was so excited when I had it taken out July 2013...my periods are back to normal and no constant spotting. I won't be getting Mirena ever again.

I love it. I spotted for about 2 months off and on. Now at 3 months after insertion I'm not having anymore spotting and haven't had a period at all.
The only thing that drove me nuts with my first Mirena (this current one is my second) was that once I had it removed to TTC my cycles took 6 months to regulate for me to get pregnant.
Other than that I'm loving it.

@Crisark: 6 months??? Did you have to wait 6 mos, or was it just taking 6 mos because your cycles were off?
I like it because i barely have a period, but i prefer getting my period for a few days to a week, and not having ANY spotting those other weeks. I had this issue when i was on alesse, i would get random spotting that drove me crazy.
Getting it removed in a few weeks. Eeks!

I had heavy spotting almost every day with it and hated it! I waited 7 months to see if I'd hit that magical time when it would stop and finally just got it removed. I've been back on the pill for 2.5 weeks and no spotting! I wanted to love it but it just wasn't for me. Hope yours stops ASAP!
