Ok, after so many responses I can't believe it took me 5 hours, and they let it go that long, and I had no interventions (forceps, etc)..... I was lucky it was slow in the hospital I guess! Yikes.

4 hours. After 2 hours of labouring down. That combined was exactly half my total labour. My OB would have been happy to let me continue pushing, as I wasn't tired, but baby was getting tired. So we decided to do a vacuum assist. She said I had really strong/tight muscles, and that it shouldn't take so long next time. Whew!

@littlejoy: same, both times, once I felt the urge to push I couldn't do anything but push. I can't imagine how people can labor down without pushing- but I've never experienced an epidural either. (Definitely no time for one this time!)

More than an hour longer than anyone has said so far. After having been awake for about 36 hours. It sucked.

Half an hour I think? Midwives were telling me to wait for the OB to arrive...no such luck for them!

I think it was close to 2 hours. I started to feel the urge to push about 10 minutes after we got settled into the room. My sense of time was pretty fuzzy.

There was no clock in the room, but I'd say it was about ten minutes. Seeing how long some of you pushed, I better understand my OB's reaction now!

@oliviaoblivia: same here! Failed induction that never got past 4 cm so no pushing. My OB does a ton of VBACs though so I'm curious if he'll think I'm a candidate to try for one because I really want that experience.

@snowjewelz: i pushed for 2 hours then my epidural failed and it took some time to fix. Then I pushed for 2 more hours.

15 min with K, and about 45 min with M. I found it strange that I pushed longer with baby #2.

2 hours but in the second hour the baby hadn't moved and was stuck so I had a c section for my 9.14 baby. I also was induced and it took a whole day to get labour going and be fully dilated, but it did happen. I never felt the urge to push though and I hadn't had an epidural. Crappy that it all ended in a c section.
