How long did you receive short term disability?

Thank you for all of the feedback!!!

Update: Just talked to HR and the "If you have the 14- or 30-day waiting period and you are hospitalized, the waiting period is waived" clause can be used for labor, yay! So my 6 (or 8) std will start when I am admitted. The lady on the phone was so blah. She just kept saying "yes" and didn't make me feel confident. I am going to send an email so I have it in writing!

If I go until my due date (or close) I'll have Christmas break, 12 weeks FMLA (6 covered under STD), and spring break, I'll be at home for 15 weeks. Then I'll go back for 8 weeks until I have the summer off. I think I may like this better than my June baby! Fx everything goes as planned

@Mrs. Taco: Are you sure you'll get 12 weeks of FLMA after your Christmas break? Ours is based on our last day worked, so even if there's a holiday or something, it doesn't extend our FLMA.

@Adira: Yes! All breaks (summer, Christmas, and spring) don't count towards FMLA. I'm going to put that in the email too just to have everythingggg in writing. It always worries me that someone will tell me differently later on down the road.

@Adira: I found the regulations: "If for some reason the employer’s business activity has temporarily ceased and employees generally are not expected to report for work for one or more weeks (e.g. , a school closing two weeks for the Christmas/New Year holiday or the summer vacation or an employer closing the plant for retooling or repairs), the days the employer’s activities have ceased do not count against the employee’s FMLA leave entitlement."

It's weird it didn't work that way for you? Maybe because it was only the actual holiday, not the whole week? So many exceptions to the rules!

11 weeks total, 10 of them were paid.

Went out at 36 weeks, didn't deliver until 41+1, and then 6 weeks for vaginal recovery.

@Mrs. Taco: Oh, that's awesome! It probably didn't work for me because it wasn't a week+ of time - only a few days. I hope everything works out for you that you'll be able to be out for the whole 15 weeks!

@Kimberlybee: Thank you love! It's super early so I'm cautiously excited but hopefully we'll have a wonderful Christmas present arriving a few days before the 25th
