Forever! DD was so scared of the bath tub that I had to buy a transitional bath tub in between the infant tub and the adult bath tub.

@Andrea: She's two now, right? How long ago was it that you were able to transition her to the big tub?

6 months for us. As soon as my son could sit unsupported we transitioned to the big bathtub.

As you know (lol) my LO isn't here yet, but I nanny. The younger girl is 1.5 and still sits in the baby tub (the blue First Years one) in the sink! she LOVES it. she just sits there and plays with bubbles..and no strain on my back!

The infant tub that we got at my shower is what LO used until she was 6.5 months old. To me, she was too little for the big bathroom tub so we got her a little tub as a transition. The tubs says it's good for up to 2 years of age.

DD is still in the infant tub @ 13 month! We took the infant support piece out at around 9 or 10 months, but she still loves her baby bath!

We used the infant tub until he was past 2! But during the terrible two beginnings, he didn't want to sit down in the water, so we switched to showers using the showerhead. Now we just hose him down and we put the baby tub away for the next baby.

We still use ours at 11 months, but we don't have any real bathtubs in our house so we'll probably keep using it until we move or LO is ready for showers.

Still using it at 9 months! It's a blow up of a duck and she's short, so it'll be a while. When her legs grow too long, I'll move her to her adult tub...I guess I'll need to decorate her bathroom then too.

We have one that grows with her. You start with the infant seat that sits inside a little tub, and when she started sitting up around 8 months we got rid of that and now she sits in the little tub which is inside our tub. When she gets big enough for the real tub, the baby tub turns into a little kneeling pad for me.

@blushink: we have LO using a bath sling in the sink too, but I forsee him outgrowing our sink soon (6 weeks now and 23 inches long). I plan to transition him into one of those european baby baths, which I think I'll be able to still put into the sink, but since it's more upright, it will last him longer. I love bathing baby in the kitchen sink. He LOVES the bath and since he's so content in there I can eat or prep food or unload the dishwasher while keeping an eye on him. He gets more bath time and I get some stuff done!
PS. I have no idea when we'll ever move to the big bath, but it will be a long time, I think, since we only have a deep jacuzzi bath.
