If it takes a long time, is that always an issue? Or some of them just need a while?
DD always takes like 20-30 min to fall asleep on her own. But I've tried adjust bed time and she wakes up at the same time no matter what!

No more naps at our house so both kids are asleep within 5 mins of walking out the door

Both of them are really quick, like less than five minutes. C wasn't always like this though.

Anywhere from 5 mins to 20 mins, but he always eventually puts himself to sleep. He's 14 months.

My daughter finally fell asleep at 10 last night. A full 3 hours after I put her down and only a 45 minute nap yesterday. My house is REAL fun today.

5-10 minutes. I guess he's tired because he usually doesn't take long naps. He's 18 months.

@snowjewelz: When I don't nurse Logan to sleep, it can take him 30 minutes to fall asleep on his own, but if he's not fussy about it, I just leave him there. I don't think it's a big deal.

@Adira: At first I kept thinking she must be over/under tired to take this long to fall asleep, but then I tried a few things and nothing really changed anything so I just kinda let it go..

@snowjewelz: I mean, it takes ME that long to fall asleep, so...? Who knows! I think as long as you don't have to do anything during those 30 minutes, it's okay for her to sort it out on her own. Theoretically she'll get better at falling asleep on her own and go down sooner, but I wouldn't worry about it if she's not crying or anything.

@Adira: I lay there with her but completely ignore her hahaha. It works out so she knows I'm there but she has to work it out. I do hope it takes less and less time! Laying in the dark for 20-30 min makes me so sleepy!

@snowjewelz: Can you leave? I just plop Logan in his crib and leave the room - he might cry for a second, but then he just babbles to himself for a while until he falls asleep.

@Adira: Not for now since she's on our bed. We are probably gonna transfer this whole scenario back to her crib after she turns 1 (and with the holidays when we're off and have more time to focus on this), the difference is just I will just sit next to her and hopefully start leaving. We like to be super gentle

@snowjewelz: Oh, haha. She might actually fall asleep faster if you aren't there, but I get why you can't leave her alone in your bed at first!
