I have no idea if I am brushing too long or not enough! My LO is almost 14 months old.

I let LO brush his own teeth- he uses an electric toothbrush, so as long as he moves it around some I figure he's ok. I try to brush my teeth at the same time and get him to do it with me: "Ok, now we're going to brush the top/back/front" etc. Usually he'll have it in his mouth for a while but only a fraction of that time will be useful brushing, but again, I don't worry too much (I figure the electric toothbrush does a lot of the work anyhow as long as it's touching teeth).

Honestly, I brush her front teeth, her bottom teeth, and then her four molars. I get in about 10 seconds on each "set" and then I let her have a turn. Right now I want to make it fun and enjoyable.

@autumnlove: 22 months, and this has been our system for probably about 4 months. (Before then he wasn't really up to following my lead/instructions)

I sing "brush brush brush your teeth each and every day, up and down, all around, brush decay away." Twice. Its to the tune of row row row your boat. I hope that's long enough!

@Thehistoryofus: I think I get about 30 seconds of brushing in before she starts crying. I wonder if I should stop then! I always follow up with a quick wipe with a little cloth...maybe I can drop that part!
