As long as she lets me. Sometimes it's 10 seconds, sometimes it's a minute. I'm happy if I feel the brush touches every tooth lol.

At night, she generally scrubs/chews on her toothbrush for a minute or two, but I don't really consider that "brushing". Then I take over and brush her teeth for real for 45 seconds to a minute. On bad days I usually just give up though. I'm not as strict in the morning, then I just let her do her thing.

I know its suppose to be for 2 mins but honestly we do 1 minute - 30 on top and 30 on the bottom - DD just went to the dentist and said her teeth looked fantastic

Um, maybe 20 seconds?! He's 2.5 and that already is hoorah in our house. He'll let me help him after he brushes his own teeth, but he doesn't let me stay in there long.

LO 1 does it for close to 2 minutes and maybe 30 secs for LO 2. LO 1 likes the timer that her dentist gave her.

Two minutes. Our dentist gave DS and DD1 a timer!

DD2 protests though so I'm sure it's only 30 seconds? Twice a day? Ugh. It's such a pain to brush her teeth!!

@regberadaisy: does your LO like Elmo? We use the Brush Your Teeth (Elmo feat. Bruno Mars) video on YouTube -- it's a little over a minute and a half. She "brushes" by herself during the song. Then, if she lets me finish brushing without protesting, I let her watch another short video. Yes, it's bribery...but I'm not above it if it makes brushing teeth less of a battle.

@MamaCate: our dentist suggests that parents brush their kids teeth until age 8!

sounds old but yep, I still brush my 7 yr olds teeth at night - I have him do the AM though - he just doesn't care enough to actually get them clean!

@Mamaof2: yes that is what mine said! We have had real battles about teeth brushing and at some piint we surrendered to letting her brush with us just doing a quick finishing. She said she is okay with the new plan (parent for the first minute, her for the second) but we will see what happens tonight.
