T gets a time out in his room with the door shut because it's the only thing that doesn't make him laugh. But they don't seem very effective lately. How long are time outs in your house? I am doing roughly 1 minute.

My mom always did one minuter per year of age. So we do between 1-2 minutes right now.

I'd do a minute for every year of age, so 2 minutes in your case.

It depends on the reason. In general 2-3 minutes but sometimes she needs more.

On the Supernanny show the nanny used to say one minute per year old so that's what we do.

2 mins (in our time out recliner in the corner) and then I talk to him and tell him why he's in time out again and if he'd like to apologize. If he continues to whine/cry or say no I tell him "ok then you'll stay on the time out chair". He usually calms down about 30 seconds after that and says "sowwy mum mum"
