I had an appointment 2w post partum and they asked if I was still on Percocet. I said no, and she said ok, you can drive then. Luckily DH took off the first 6 weeks so he drove everywhere anyways. Driving wouldn't have bothered me, but I'm not sure I would've wanted to have to pick up the bucket seat.

@Applesandbananas: 11 days. They told me to wait two weeks, but they also scheduled me an appointment at 11days pp that they wouldn't let me reschedule, and DH only got 10 days (in a row) off, so that was that.
(I didn't take any painkillers after the anesthesia wore off--so it had been 11 days without that)

I think I drove about a week later? As soon as I was off the narcotics. But I had a very easy recovery and was taking walks every day too.

5 days. I drove myself to emerg one might because I thought my feet swelling was out of control. It was raining really hard so I didn't want to pack up the baby. I was never on anything stronger than regular Tylenol and Advil (they didn't offer me anything). It wasn't my smartest decision! But it was only a 7 minute drive.

I had my mom drive me to my 2 week appointment where I asked if I was ok for me to drive. My midwife kind of acted like it was a funny question but said that I was fine to drive if I wasn't taking narcotics, which I only did one time in the hospital. I actually don't remember anyone even mentioning it to me in the hospital I just assumed 2 weeks. But thankfully my husband had been home with me so it wasn't important either way!

@petitenoisette: They mentioned to me that it was also due to reaction time that they didn't want people to drive right away.
But in a serious situation I think your body would just react appropriately, regardless of whether it caused pain or not!

I forgot to ask/my doctor didn't mention but I drove around 2 weeks. I just asked my BIL (he was over after work) to put the baby in the car for me.

I was told as soon as I could put my full weight on the brake quickly without pain. I think I waited 2 weeks just to be safe though.

5 days - had to take dd2 to the pediatrician and DH couldn't take off. I was never on any painkillers outside of Motrin, and wasn't taking any by the time I was discharged, so my ob cleared me. I was lucky with easy recoveries with both c sections, though I don't remember the first time I drove after dd1.

Wellll, I drove home from the hospital - shhh, don't tell. I was only on Motrin that day and DH had a conference call that he had to have a laptop open for in the backseat. I had been in the hospital for almost a full week and he had no idea I would be in so long and I was DYING to leave, so I just drove. I felt fine and luckily none of the nurses were paying attention once we pulled out of the loading zone.

I didn't feel ok to drive for 4 weeks after my first. It has been 2 weeks since my second and I still don't feel ready. I just quit the narcotics a day ago.... I don't know how you ladies were able to leave the hospital without them!
