@augustmama: We don't have room in our tiny house for too much gear! We started using the umbrella stroller at 6 months. My inlaws bought it for us then as a Chanukah present for LO.

Don't buy a travel system if you live in a walk up! Theyre huge and bulky and heavy from what i hear.

we bought a regular umbrella stroller - the city mini by baby jogger - and a car seat adapter that goes with it. Our original plan was the stroller frame and then the city mini later but I hated the idea of buying 2 things for one purpose. We're mainly planning on baby wearing early on anyway.

If you want an umbrella stroller the city mini is supposed to be great, easy to fold, and lightweight and it's not a jogging stroller so it's safe to use earlier than jogging strollers are. We haven't put ours together yet so I can't personally vouch for anything lol.

We have a snap and go and an umbrella stroller.
Wore our Lo a lot and didnt find the need for a big expensive stroller

We have the Britax B-Agile stroller (w/ B-Safe seat) and a BOB. I love our Britax system. It's lightweight, but sturdy. It's our car stroller. I leave it in our trunk and it is super easy to get in and out of the car. When I have a need for that stroller, I have a need for the basket and handles to store things. Our BOB is for walks/jogs in our neighborhood. We have really bumpy sidewalks. We'll probably get an umbrella stroller if we ever need to travel with one. So far, we've gotten by with baby wearing and borrowing a stroller at our destination.

Just throwing this side of the argument out there - my LO is 9 mos old and since the day she came home from the hospital has absolutely DESPISED being in her car seat, so I am very glad we didn't buy/plan on a snap and go. We have the Uppa Baby Vista, which we adore, but it is huge. We have a big car though! Added bonus that it came with a bassinet that we brought everywhere since she hated her car seat so much. I was just gifted a BOB jogging stroller, and also plan to get an umbrella stroller (g luxe) for when we are traveling. We have a huge dog so between the vista and the dog and the car seat there's barely any room for us and our stuff! So, three strollers. I am lucky that we have the room for them because they all serve good and useful purposes. I wish the vista was a jogger too - would be great to only have two!

We have 3. We started with just the Snap N Go. Then when DD was about 4 months old we purchased her "big girl" stroller -- a Joovy Zoom jogging stroller. Then just recently at 9 months we bought a cheap umbrella stroller for travel. We're definitely all set for strollers now! I think it's nice to splurge a big for a fancier workhorse stroller, but the Snap N Go and a cheap umbrella stroller do come in useful and various times...

We have a Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle pram with the bassinet attachment (it's an all terrain stroller) as our main "wheels" and at twelve weeks we've just outgrown the bassinet and I've also hired a Snap n Go frame for our capsule.

The Mountain Buggy is for walking with our dog and longer trips out and about but the Snap n Go is awesome for quick trips or if I'm on my own with LO.

Both "wheels" have their downsides, the Mountain Buggy is big and quite heavy but the Snap n Go is not as nice to push and navigate etc.

You definitely don't need a big pram with a Newborn, I reckon a Snap n Go would be a good start till you suss out what you like.

We got two, a Graco travel system (waste) and a BOB jogging stroller (loved) and once we had two, we got a baby jogger city mini which has only sort of been used since I mostly baby wear.

We live in the suburbs and have one stroller - an Uppababy Vista with a carseat adapter. We use it primarily with the adapter right now - it's great for running errands. Before winter arrived we would also use it with the bassinet for walks around our neighborhood. I think the best advice is to think about what situations you will use a stroller in and figure out which one best fits your needs. Since we are primarily errand runners with ours, I kind of wish we had just gotten a snap and go, and then gotten a jogging stroller to use for neighborhood walks and runs next spring when she's older.

I think you'll love them! We got the Britax B-Agile and B-Safe car seat--I like that the car seat snaps in (without me having to buy an additional adapter like with the City Mini) and we can use the stroller by itself as well. It's super easy to fold up and light enough that I don't have a problem getting it in/out of the trunk. You could also look into the B-Nimble, which is an umbrella stroller that you can snap Britax car seats into (I was really interested but couldn't find any in store to play around with!)

@JoJoGirl: the UB isn't a jogging stroller...it doesn't have the suspension for that, I don't think, and isn't meant to be used as that.

@JoJoGirl: ehh...I wouldn't personally...Having used it, I just feel like the separate seat makes it a bit more "rattle-y" when going at high speeds than I would be comfortable with for LO. I would call the company and ask them though--they might not "officially" be able to recommend using it as a jogging stroller, but should be able to give you more info as to whether the suspension, wheels, etc could stand up to that if you decide you want to do it.

@hilsy85: That's a good idea. We were hoping such a high-end stroller would mean fewer strollers to invest in overall. Plus living in New England we'd only get to use a jogging stroller for like 3 months of the year anyway! I should call them.

We only have the city mini and used the infant car seat adapter. We love it. It's very convenient anduch more light weight than a travel system(which we were initially going to get). I am looking in to getting just a little umbrella stroller for when I don't want to take the regular one

looking back (and if it weren't a gift), i would totally get something you snap your carseat to and then babywear. I have yet to actually use my stroller - its big and bulky (it's a travel system).

i would definitely put off a stroller purchase and do the snap and go for the first couple of months. that will give you a better idea of your needs. also... there is no way you can carry a britax travel system up 3 flights of stairs!

if it were me i would do the snap and go until 6 months and then an umbrella stroller. anything else will be too heavy.
