Growing up, I could only check out ten books at a time. So I was pretty stunned today to learn that you can check out 99 books at a time from our local library! That's pretty awesome but at the same time, I'd hate to be late in returning 99 books!!

I thought you could only check out ten as well, but for children's books at our local library you can check out unlimited and there are no fees!

I don't know about books, but I've definitely taken out >20 at a time. They have a 6 DVD at a time limit & limit children's holiday books to 2 at a time though

@Greentea: How do they prevent people from checking out 1,000 books, and then selling them!

I don't know what the limit is. I know we usually have around 40 checked out at a time. We actually juggle two different library systems because we live between them, and that can get a little tricky. I have to try to remember which place which books came from, and make sure I am on top of when everything is due. Usually we don't get any fines, but I love libraries and having easy access to so many books.

@Mrs. Twine: 40 books!! WOW!!! Back when I was subscribed to Netflix DVDs, I could barely keep track of the 3 DVDs I was renting. 40 books is an amazing number to keep track of!

I think 60. I just remember saying that I planned to never have that many out at one time lol.

50 of anything is our library's limit. We never have more than 5 out at once. I can't imagine actually having 50 out!

Unlimited because I have an Educator's card - no late fees and 6 week check outs! One of the best perks of being a teacher haha

As a school librarian it's so fun to see the 8th graders faces when I tell them I don't care how many books they check out - they think it's the biggest deal ever after coming from the middle school with a 2 book limit!
