Georgetown Cupcakes suggests to purchase a cupcake per person and then round up to the next dozen or two. Rounding by the dozen is cost efficient. Do you agree with their serving suggestion?
18 guests= 24 cupcakes or 36 cupcakes (ea. person can have 2)
54 guests= 60 cupcakes or 72 cupcakes (18 people can have 2)
If you had the choice of three cupcake flavors, would you still just eat one?

I understand getting some extras, but I think if they're a good size cupcakes most people will eat just one.

i think you'll have a lot of leftover cupcakes. we just had lo's first bday party over the weekend and there were 30ish guests. we took 40 cupcakes and had about 20 leftover... idk if our situation was unique for whatever reason but it sucked throwing out that many cupcakes! i would only round up to the next dozen, not two.
now if you made them favors and put them in to-go bags or boxes your guests are probably a lot more likely to take them for later!

Not everyone will eat a cupcake and very few people will have two. I wouldn't get any extra
