What is your laundry situation? And how much do you hate doing it?
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Mrs. Confetti: Situation is that I have a washer and dryer and like to use them when I absolutely have to... aka never! Also I like to hoard things if that makes a difference. So if you tell me I need 5 of something I hear 50.

Burp cloths: 6-12 to start. Then when you know if you have a baby that spits up a lot like mine, you can buy more. We ended up with 24. And I used the flat cloth diapers.
baby washcloths: 3
baby towels: 2
boppy cover: 2
binky ribbon things: 1, we've only had one and it's still serving us well one year later.

Burp cloths: 10-15
baby washcloths: 10
baby towels: 2 (we use one towel for a few baths and then alternate when I do the wash)
boppy cover: 1
binky ribbon things: 0? (We are Wubbanub devotees in our house, I have a whole basket of other pacifiers/accessories that we never touched)

Burp cloths: We have 9 good ones (and a handful of cheap ones that we never use) and we still do laundry every couple of days (our LO spits up a lot, though). I don't think you can really have too many burp cloths. I'd get at least 5 or 6 nice ones.
Washcloths: We have a lot of these, too, but I think you could get away with a handful. I find it easier just to use my hands to wash her body and hair. We do use a washcloth to wipe off her face, though.
Baby towels: 3
Boppy cover: We just have 1 and it's been fine
Binky ribbon things: Not sure what this is. The paci clips? We have two but our LO doesn't take a paci so they were kind of a waste of money. I'd start with just 1.

Burp cloths: I love the A+A burpy bibs - two in one, I'm still using them with my almost two year old. I have 4.
baby washcloths: half dozen?
baby towels: two hooded
boppy cover: two
binky ribbon things: we had two but could've done just one, once he found his thumb it was all over with the binky.

Burp cloths: piles. i think we have 15?
baby washcloths: we had none, just used normal ones
baby towels: we got one for a present, used it twice and started just using normal towels
boppy cover: i only had one! would have liked a second one, so I didn't have to use it naked (the pillow, not me )while the cover was washing, but they're something stupid like $30 here.
binky ribbon things: we bought a pack of 2. lost one right away, and hardly ever used the other one
grapefruit / 4717 posts
Burp cloths: started with 12, found out I had a baby who was like a fountain and then bought maybe 12 more.
baby washcloths: 4 (came in a pack of 4, but we would be fine with 2-3)
baby towels: 1-2. We currently use an adult towel at 16 mo - never found that some of the baby ones were absorbent or warm enough.
boppy cover: have 1 and also a waterproof under cover. Could have used a 2nd cover.
binky ribbon things: 1

Burp cloths: 12 Gerber diapers
baby washcloths:12 Circo brand washcloths from Target
baby towels: 2
boppy cover:2
I added 2 more baby towels when baby 2 was born!
pear / 1699 posts
Burp cloths: 20, at least - we went through at least 5 a day at the start
baby washcloths: 10 - we used 2 per bath and then used them to clean his neck area, ect on days he didn't get a bath.
baby towels: 3 because 2 might not be enough for 4 days if baby has a blow out ect.
boppy cover: 2 but I lived with 1 and just used a receiving blanket when it was in the wash.
binky ribbon things: 1? We tried soothers but DS was never a fan.
I think laundry every 4 days is a great goal.
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
Burp cloths: We had about 4 nice Aden & Anais burpy bibs and about 12 - 15 cheaper Babies R Us brand ones. That was plenty for us.
baby washcloths: Probably like 10 or 15?
baby towels: Four. That was plenty.
boppy cover: One. Didn't actually like the Boppy so I ended up getting My Brest Friend. Still only had one cover for it and it was fine.
binky ribbon things: Oh geez. Probably bought like 8 total?? Kept losing those darn things.

@anonysquire:
Burp cloths: I think estimate at least like five a day for the newborn period and it goes down from there.. I recommend using the prefolds like these: http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-10-Pack-Prefold-Premium-absorbent/dp/B005D7GAGS/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1382928976&sr=1-2&keywords=prefold+diapers+gerber
baby washcloths: just a few, estimate 1-2 a day...one for bath and one for wiping down the neck area where milk and drool accumulates.
baby towels: a couple, use one a day for bath. Since they're small I didn't reuse them..I started reusing regular size towels only recently for dd. I recommend getting larger ones or sort of cheap infant ones because they outgrow them so fast. But they don't break the bank so much so a few little ones to start would be convenient (and cute!)
boppy cover: No idea, I only had one, but I didn't like the boppy and I was EPing by the end of week 1. I'd guess 2-3..
binky ribbon things: We never ended up using these much because the paci would fall out of dd's mouth more often when she had these. If your lo takes a soothie paci maybe try out a wubanub. If you're set on using these ribbon things start with one and see how it goes. If you end up using them regularly I'd guess 2 would be ok.

We never really used baby towels. They are cute, but meh, a regular bath towel worked just as well. Baby washcloths were (and still are at 16 months!) useful - we probably have 10-15. We use 1x a day and then I only do laundry once a week.
Didn't use a boppy, I wouldn't invest in covers until you are sure you will use it.
Ribbons for paci - the type of paci holder can vary depending on the paci your LO will take. My LO *only* takes Avent Soothies, which takes a different ribbon holder since they don't have a "handle" to clip a ribbon onto. I've tried every single other brand with her and no go. Soothie or nothing. That's another thing I wouldn't invest in until you see what your baby likes.

We do her laundry 1x a week so i like yo have at least 7 of everything we use daily. I loathe laundry.

Burp cloths: 10-15 (we have about 5 of the A&A ones and then prefolds for the rest)
Washcloths: 10
Towels: 2
Boppy cover: 2
Ribbon things: We have two but really hardly use them since LO isn't really all that into the binky.

Burp cloths: 5
baby washcloths: 10
baby towels: 4-5
boppy cover: 1-2
binky ribbon things: 1-2
Of all of them, buy a ton of washcloths! I use them on DS and DD, after meals, in the bath, or just washing their faces in the morning.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
Burp cloths: we ended up with about 25 gerber cloth diapers and maybe 5 a+a nice ones for use out of the house. I started with fewer gerbers but got another couple of packs when she was going through the spit up stage. I could have probably waited it out because that stage didn't last too long. I still use them at 9 months to dry her butt after diaper changes.
Washcloths: At least 10. We still go through a lot of these because I like to use one for soaping up and another for rinsing. Sometimes another for hair.
Towels: 5
Boppy covers: I started out with one boppy, 2 covers and 2 waterproof liners. We love our boppy though, so I ended up buying a second pillow for when I have to wash one. I also got a travel (inflatable) my brest friend, which is awesome! We've traveled across the country with it but it's great for daytrips too.
Binky ribbons: maybe start with one? We didn't use pacifiers, so no need for ribbons.
pomelo / 5326 posts
Burp cloths: I made 7 and this week I'm making more. The reason we do laundry is because we've run out of burp cloths. I end up just using receiving blankets.
baby washcloths: I was all gung-ho about using washcloths to clean at diaper changes, but I only use them for really messy changes. I like the thicker washcloths for bath time and the thin ones for diaper changes. I have 24 and it's more than enough, I probably only have 8 in the wash at one time. However, I think when we start solids we will go through a ton!
baby towels: 2-3
boppy cover: I have two boppys (or boppies?) and just the one cover for each. I keep one pillow upstairs and one in basement for watching tv. I was actually thinking I wanted an extra cover for each for when she really spits up. However, what I do now is always lie a receiving blanket over the boppy when I nurse.
binky ribbon things: not sure! She doesn't use a paci.
Sorry for the novel

I dislike doing laundry more than once week for each person in my household so this is what works for us:
Burp cloths: unlimited because we have a spit uppy baby. Like others have said the Gerber diapers work best for us.
baby washcloths: 5?
baby towels: 5?
boppy cover: I have one regular cover and a waterproof one goes under it.
binky ribbon things: 1, We've never used it.
pomelo / 5469 posts
Burp cloths: we have 12x muslin cloths. This is plenty for us, half would have been fine.
Baby washcloths: not sure what these are or what they're for- we use cotton wool and warm water for any messy nappy changes.
Baby towels: none- we just use some of our smaller bath towels or hand towels.
Boppy cover: none- we don't have a boppy.
Binky ribbon things: no idea what these are either!
I hate spending money on special baby gear items when I can be resourceful and use something we already have around the house or a cheaper alternative. I do laundry most days, either our stuff, her stuff or a combination... I'd do it less if she didn't spit up so much- I don't like that being left on stuff for long.

I had a TON of baby washcloths, I used them instead of wipes and they are the best thing ever!
towels: 4 in rotation, we had our changing table in the bathroom, so we didn't have to wrap and dash to put on pajamas
burp cloths, at least a dozen
boppy cover: 2

Burp cloths: I have a major spitter so the more the better. I think we have like 15.
baby washcloths: 2 is plenty
baby towels: 3 is fine
boppy cover: I had one but rarely used my boppy.
binky ribbon things: I have 2 so that I can change them with his outfit. But one is probably enough.
pomelo / 5524 posts
Burp cloths: 15-30...seriously, we could never have enough burp cloths. He would spit up on them almost every feeding and we'd have to switch them out if it was really bad.
baby washcloths: 7-10...my rule is one for every day of the week. We didn't reuse ours and threw them in the hamper after each bath.
baby towels: 2-5...these we did reuse and threw them in the wash every few days as long as he didn't pee all over them (which was often in the beginning)
boppy cover: 2 - one was always in the wash b/c he spit up all over it.
binky ribbon things: We found these as more of a hindrance, so we didn't use them often. He would flail his arms and pull his binky out with the ribbon and couldn't figure out how to get it back in, so we stopped using them!
