And do you have yard/land?
I'm in love with a puppy, but DH is more reasonable and doesn't think we should go from a 2 dog to 3 dog family
I come from a family where people have anywhere from 2-5+ dogs running around

2 dogs, 2 cats. Also a saltwater tank, but I didn't count them, cause there's like 40 things in there. If we didn't rent our house, we'd probably have more animals.

My DH and I both grew up having multiple dogs at one time. We live them but will likely never get any of our own. We've never been home enough and we don't like dog hair in the house. So sad. I worry about raising kids without pets!!!

I have two dogs in a teeny house. We do have a large garden -110ft - but its fenced off to the dogs unless they are supervised (you can't find the poops otherwise!) so its not like they have free run. I think as long as you give them sufficient structured exercise and maintain discipline you can keep three dogs comfortably in a domestic residence.
That said, its not for me! Two is my limit! I wouldn't be able to handle more than two on the lead (one in each hand) and managing the dogs properly on the walk (walking to heel etc) is so important for maintaining order in the home. Some people can do it but I couldn't!!

3 dogs - 1 large, 2 are tiny and non-shedding. We kick around the idea of getting a cat sometimes. It kills me when the humane society posts kitten pics on Facebook!

We have 1 large dog and 2 cats in our 1200sq ft townhome. We have a teeny fenced in yard that's mainly used for quick potty trips. We walk our dog once a day and it works for us. I can't wait to have a real backyard though!

We have one dog. I almost adopted a puppy from the same rescue group I adopted our dog from but then realized I was about to give birth and that probably wasn't the best idea.

@grizz: these puppies are seriously killing me!
@swedishfish: that was DH main argument - to remind me that we are TTC right now so maybe not right time for 3rd dog

One dog, two cats. My husband wanted another dog, but I put my foot down as we are getting ready to have a baby and I did not want to introduce a puppy into the mix.

We had 2 dogs but recently had to re-home our female dog because she doesn't do well with other dogs. Right now DH's parents are taking care of her and have fallen in love so we hope they keep her so we can still see her.

We have 2 cats. A Siamese mix named Oliver and a grey and white kitten named Matilda.
DH wants a dog eventually, but with a baby due in a few months, I think we'll wait awhile for that one! It's already like a zoo sometimes with just the cats.

In our home we have 5 cats and a dog. They all get along pretty well now. It wasn't always like that.

@evansjamie: same here! One dog (well puppy, he's still only 8 months) and 2 cats here. DH really wants another dog so ours can have a friend. I said no way! The next living thing we are bringing into this house will not have fur! I want a baby! Lol

One dog, two cats. We have a fenced yard. DH would have many more pets if I would let him, but I think we have more than enough, especially when it comes to keeping up with the fur!

Just one cat right now, and he was mine before I even met DH. Growing up we always had 2-3 cats. My current cat is indoor only and we live in a rented apartment (second floor), so no outside space.
DH would like a dog someday, and I always want kittens!!!

1 dog, 3 cats, 2 mice, and 2 tortoises. Yes, we have a fenced backyard that the dog and tortoises share in shifts.

One cat in an apartment. Once we have a house with a yard we'd like to get a dog.

We have 2 small pups and a backyard. We got them when we lived in an apartment though. They are pretty much inside dogs. One of them LOVES being outside but it is so hot she can't stay out long.

@runnerd: They are precious! Beagle mix? Our big dog is half golden, 1/4 pug, and 1/4 beagle (seriously...so weird) and he is the best, sweetest dog I've ever owned! He's such a good combo

We have 2 cats. We're pet-sitting a 3rd cat right now and it makes me glad we only have 2. 3 is too many.

@grizz: 1/2 beagle, 1/4 dachshund, 1/4 corgie. My fave three dogs all rolled into one

@runnerd: Oh my goodness. Get all of them! That has to be the cutest mix ever!

We have 3 cats (2 inside, 1 indoor/outdoor) and 2 dogs (1 inside, outside). I wish I could have a hundred but dh has put his foot down.

I wish we could have a dog. DH says no dog until we have a yard (we live in an apt) and not until LO can pick up dog poop.

two little chihuahuas! I love them so much and I really would love another little chihuahua to add to the bunch but have been trying to restrain myself.

Two cats. Although I had a dream that we got a puppy last night! Since we have a 7-week old DD, I think we will be waiting on that one!
