How many emails are in your inbox?

Only 14 currently in my work inbox (all read!). The system I use probably wouldn't work for everyone, but I only keep emails that still require action or attention in my inbox. Everything else gets filed away! I also read emails as I receive them...having multiple unread emails makes me anxious!
Yesterday morning was a completely different story. I was on vacation for a week, so my inbox was a little scary!

@Sophia: I also only keep emails in my inbox when they require action - I love that system!
Problem is that lots of them are technical things involving the website, so they take a while to work through alas... probably should label them and archive if they're gonna just sit there though, oops!

I feel like such a n00b. I only have 33 emails in all my inboxes (I have five), but I tend to label something and file it away as soon as I get it...

In my work e-mail only 6. Our system deletes them after a relatively short period of time so I only keep things in there that I need to respond to, etc. Otherwise they get saved to various client matters, etc.
ETA I probably get at least one to two hundred e-mails a day.

@Sophia: that's my work system too
I have 50 in my work inbox, only 5 in personal. I CANNOT stand to have unread emails or junk stay in my personal inbox.
When I saw one of my friends iPhone alert showing over 1000 unread emails (mostly junk emails she hasn't deleted) I just about lost it stressing out on her behalf.

On my work email I keep every email I have ever gotten (not including spam), just in case. So that has 2,620 gmail CONVERSATIONS on it (not individual emails) so uh, a lot of emails.
I "flag as important" emails I am currently dealing with.

@mrbee: Nah. I just set the ones that are currently important to "important" and uncheck them when it's dealt with.

Zero unread emails, but I keep everything because gmail gives you essentially unlimited space. I have 9,633 conversations in my inbox. Much of is it organized with labels and tags.
I don't archive because i'm lazy.. and they're easy to locate using the search feature no matter how you store them
Edit: I am currently only using 5% of the storage available to me on gmail!

@mrbee: I totally get that. I'm always worried if I file something away, I'll totally forget about it. Most of the emails in my inbox right now are about technical issues! I work in the Insurance industry...and I'm having a ton of IT issues today. Gross!

9 in my personal email, and 17 in my work email currently! Not too bad!

@runnerd: I'm the same way! My husband has like 994 unread on his iphone and it drives me nuts!

@thismustbetheplace: I love how much room gmail gives! I'm at 9% with 3,800 saved conversations after 5 years lol

Zero unread in both inboxes, 1,226 emails in my work inbox, and 1,479 emails in my personal inbox. I never archive my gmail, but I do delete junk the junk emails. I am forced to archive my outlook (work) about every 3-4 weeks because of size limits. 5MB+ work emails make me stabby!

This thread is blowing my mind. It really surprises me that a lot of work places don't have retention policies.

4,236 in my work inbox
I really need to use my last 3 weeks before maternity leave to start filing stuff. I'm terrible. None are unread, though!

(nevermind my reply post)
Oh, and I have less than 20 pending emails in my work email!

In my work inbox? Just one at the moment. For work emails I only keep emails requiring action in my inbox. After I've responded they get filed into one of my 85-ish folders (based on category). I then archive my emails (sent and received) on a regular basis for file-retention reasons (as @mrsh mentioned above).
My personal email, OTOH, has over 25,000 emails in my inbox! I keep them all in one place so that I don't have to go digging through folders to find them. It makes me sound kind of insane, but I'm actually a very organized person and find that the easiest way to know where everything is!
ETA: No unread emails in either of my inboxes. I cannot STAND unread emails!

My work inbox is currently at 10 and I receive a few emails an hour. First thing in the am it is usually around 25-30. During our busy time of year it can be closer to 40-50 (Insert overwhelmed face here)
My personal inbox is at 3, but I don't really send emails to friends and family, it's mostly coupons, newsletters and shipping notifications! Oh, and HB notifications, too!
ETA: By "in my inbox" I mean unread, not total!

@hergreenapples I am so jealous of your organization abilities!! I really should archive emails.
