DD can now easily get out of her crib. She only gets out after she's woken up in the morning or after her nap is done and she gets out safely and easily (I've watched her do it). I'm still hesitant to put on the toddler side because I'm afraid of her getting up out of bed at any point now instead of just when she's done sleeping.
Did your child escape their crib often before you switched them to another bed? Or did you stick your head in the mud like I have?

Is it bad that I'd probably leave her until she actually seemed like she'd hurt herself? My kid would love that. She's such a climber.

I didn't switch until it got annoying
ex: put in crib at bedtime
climbs out
put back in
climbs out
put in again
climbs out
Then we switched!
If she stays IN at nap and bedtime I would leave her there

if she's only getting out at appropriate times, then i see no reason to switch! we switched because LO was violently throwing himself out of the crib to get our attention after we left the room.

Right away, my son started throwing himself out of the crib at 20 months.

exactly what @edelweiss said, If she's still sleeping in her crib and not getting out a million times, I would leave her! We had to switch bc LO kept trying to get out (18 months) and I was terrified of her falling.

@blackbird: @edelweiss: @NovBaby1112: you made me so hopeful! we had a nice run with her just getting out in the morning, but it wasn't meant to be. two nights ago, she got out 4 times at bedtime a la @Mamaof2: so last night, i threw in the towel and switched the toddler rail in. she did well, but she's just waking up at 6:15 and coming into my room instead of the usual 7/7:30! ahhhh.
just wanted to update in case some other mama hoped they could keep their LO contained. once they have a taste of the glory, they can't give it up!

We gave up quickly. I didn't want her falling on the hardwoods.
@birdofafeather: R was doing this. The other night she got up at 115 and was banging on the door yelling Mama for no reason. But last night I told her that she doesn't get our of her bed over night or in the morning until Mama or Dada come get your. This morning was the first time in two weeks that she said in bed playing with her baby/toys till we went to get her.

@Smurfette: yeah, we were letting her come in our room, but i think we need to have a talk about staying in her room some more! mama's tired!

@birdofafeather: If she keeps getting up, we are going to get her an alarm clock that tells her when she can get up. I like her in her room while I am getting ready for work.
