What a modern phenomenon: you consider someone a friend, then you somehow offend them and they defriend you from Facebook. Sometimes it gets even messier, and they also defriend from mutual friends.
How many friends have defriended you on Facebook? Did they ever give a reason for defriending you?

I've had several fb friends defriend me during what I assume are "friend purges" because they were people I didn't know very well (like people who I maybe had 1 class with in college).
DH's ex girlfriend defriended me back when we were dating haha

A handful but the most obvious and purposeful defriendation (yes, defriendation) was someone who was upset with me because she was not invited to my wedding even though so-and-so was. She wrote a long email telling me exactly why she felt she couldn't be my FB friend anymore (even though we see each other regularly!)...UGH. I totally rolled my eyes. Such a drama queen.
I should add that I have since deactivated my FB account. I HATE drama.

I'm sure a few people have, but I wouldn't know it. I don't really pay attention to that much. I've defriended people now and then during a purge, but I haven't defriended anyone out of spite or negativity. But I've definitely blocked people from my news feed because I couldn't stand their a) constant (stupid) updates, b) thousand pictures of LO per day (literally, like 1 every 30 minutes), or c) ignorant, rude, racist remarks about Obama and Democrats in general.

The only ones I know of were my friends' good friends that ended up in an argument so they defriended her and whoever else she was closer to. I find it amusing because I was never really close to these girls anyway.
The last time it happened was just recently, when my childhood friend had gf drama over her wedding. The time before that was years ago, surprisingly, over a wedding as well. *shrug*

I'm sure people have, but I wouldn't know. I've gone through and defriended around 100 people before because I never interacted with them.

I need to do a purge of people I don't know very well, usually people from high school who friended everyone when facebook started. But I've never defriended anyone because of a fight, but I'm also not that much of a facebook user.

mostly if someone tries adding me and i don't talk to them in person, i decline their request. or, if they blow up my feed too much (like my cousin) i just hide their feed rather than delete. i do facebook purge every few months though of people i don't really keep up with or talk to anymore.

My SIL and I have defriended each other and it's the best thing that's ever happened to our relationship. We annoyed the hell out of each other. I hope she never tries to re-friend me.

If people have, I have no idea that they have! I'm still "friends" with the core people I talk to frequently and that's what matters most.

A handful of people have. Most of them were people from high school that I knew and that didn't bother me. There was probably 2-3 people who did bother me when the defriended me. I am a little liberal so I wonder if that was the reason. I heard from another friend that is still friends with this person that she might be going through some things right now. I guess I just don't know why I was unfriended. Eh, I'll let her have her space.

One of my really good friends from college de-friended me out of nowhere and then we basically didn't talk for almost 10 months because I was so hurt and had no idea why she had done it...Turns out it was a complete misunderstanding and SO stupid...I think it's a very passive-agressive, immature move, tbh...

There have been a handful of people. My sister is one of them. One guy defriended me because I disagreed with him about Veterans and the Occupy movement. It was ridiculous. I don't really care when people defriend me.

@lilteacherbee: did you know the ex before you started dating? DH's ex & i are FB friends, we weren't friends before & she friended me after DH & i got together. i accepted it because you should keep your friends close... and your enemies closer =P
i've probably unfriended 10 people. i've been unfriended by a bunch of people, doesn't really bother me- except for one guy who did it and i noticed it the day before we both went to a mutual friend's funeral... he told me about how he'd seen my wedding pictures on fb and i wasn't sure if i was supposed just pretend i hadn't noticed that he unfriended me or not.

I have no idea. I'm sure some have, probably just as regular friend purges. There was one friend (who I'm not even close with, she was the best friend of one of my coworkers at my last job) who I majorly offended, and SHE didn't even unfriend me. Weird.

I've been unfriended by several people but mostly because of friend purges. Although, it's possible some have unfriended my because I refuse to be politically correct on my own facebook wall and will use all the sarcasm I want. (That being said..I don't post obviously offensive, racist, ignorant stuff).
The only deliberate, made a big deal out of it unfriending I can think of is my husband's cousin who got mad we looked at her wedding website and asked grandma about the date because it was different than what we had been told. Somehow that morphed into us being terrible, horrible, no good very bad people that needed to get lives and she blocked me, my husband's sister, and my husband's bil even though it was my husband who asked his grandma and he got to remain friends. We all just laugh now and look at her profile through my husband's account.

My ex sil did. She didn't want us to see what she's up to because then we'd go rat her out to my bil. I don't blame her.
I also had another friend defriend me. We went on a trip to Israel together when we were 16 and became good friends, but he lives far so I haven't seen him in 10 years. He found out that I broke up with my ex and professed his love for me and said he wanted to move here. I always had a crush on him, but that was moving way too fast for me, especially because 10 years later we were completely different people. I told him that and he defriended me 
he refriended me after I had my lo though.

@mrs. bird, @mrbee: We all went to high school together. We were actually friends when she was dating DH. A few months after they broke up, we started dating (yeah, yikes....) We were only 16/17 haha
She actually unfriended me years later in college after (I thought) we had moved past all the drama. Nooope, apparently not.

I don't know. I've done some friend purges myself. I usually don't care but there was one circumstance that pissed me off.
My ex best friend & I were planning our weddings and they were supposed to be a few months apart. We were supposed to be in each other's bridal parties. I ended up having to cancel my wedding due to the Army changing our move date. It was completely out of my control. She decided that she didn't want me in her bridal party any more but she didn't even tell me! She was contacting the other BMs about dresses and such. I had to message her and ask about it. She deleted me shortly after. She started friend requesting me right after my DS was born. (Obviously nosy!) I denied them up until a couple of months ago, like an idiot. She sent me a message saying that my LO is adorable and that she's sorry that she couldn't be apart of my life for this. WTF, right!?! Ugh...obviously, I need to delete her because it still makes me mad.

I don't know the exact number but I do random friend purges. I haven't done one in a while because the new fb timeline settings are hard.
The only person that "confronted" me was an old youth group student and I just accepted her new fb reqeust to avoid the drama.
I do the purges and will do a major one before LO is here. I'm using FB mainly as an avenue to photo store and share with friends far away, so I have ppl on restricted lists etc.
