I am 39 years old and have been ttc for several months unsuccessfully. I have a very regular cycle and have confirmed ovulation through opks and with temping. My fiance has been checked and all is good there. Because of my age, I am considering trying IUI this month or next month. AF is due tomorrow and I had a BFN today, and now starting to cramp etc, so she is most likely on her way.
Has anyone tried IUI and if so, how many did you do before it wad successful.... IF it was successful.

Maybe try Clomid? I've heard it can help women who ovulate regularly to ovulate "stronger". I would speak to a doctor.

I did one cycle of IUI with 50 mg of Clomid. We also have MFI so IUI did not work for us. We then went to IVF and it worked on the first try.
Has a doctor done bloodwork to confirm ovulation?

I have gone through 4 cyles of the IUI process... but two of those cycles resulted in the actual insemination part. The other two resulted in cancelled cycles because I had enlarged follicles and they wanted to make sure that follicle didn't turn into a cyst.
We are currently in a TTC break and I hope to start up with phase two of fertility treatment (IUIs) or the adoption process next year.

I have been once, but it was just to turn in sample for semen analysis. My dr doesnt feel we should have a problem, but I am just very impatient and dont want to keep wasting time because of my age. I will probably give it one more shot next month and maybe schedule an appointment with my OB/GYN to talk about things.

I think going straight to IUI would be jumping the gun, it might be a simpler fix. I'd suggest going to see an RE or an Naturopath for a consultation. I have a friend in her late 30s who got pregnant within a month of seeing an ND. I also got pregnant quickly once I started taking her herbs (though it didn't stick).

Yea, you are probably right. I will start with calling the fertility clinic tomorrow once AF arrives and see what my first step should be. Thank you!

I had one iui and it was successful. They can likely do everything in this cycle since you just got AF. That's what they did with us. I agree that you could try one cycle of clomid first. We did iui with clomid but never tried clomid by itself.

@fotolori1: Yeah, make sure to call them tomorrow so you get ahead start on everything. They like to talk to you and your fiancé first for a consultation, then they like get you to come in on the first day of your AF to get some blood work. If you do it soon (before AF), you can get started on your fertility testing. Good luck! Let us know if you have any questions. We got a good group of IFers here.

Well, I am at work tonight and AF just arrived. Hopefully they will be able to get us in soon. Do you have to have been trying for over a tear before they will see you at a fertility clinic? Or need to be sent by your dr or can you just go on your own? Does anyone know?

@fotolori1: My OB/Gyn doctor recommended me at 6 months, so I think you should be fine.

@fotolori1: check with your insurance carrier. I didn't need referrals for my insurance and I didn't need to wait a year.

@fotolori1: Oh, yeah, I would check with your insurance to see if you need a referral. Do you know what kind of insurance you have, HMO or PPO? I believe PPOs don't need referrals but some HMOs do. I would double check anyway.
I don't need a referral but I asked my OB/GYN for her recommendation anyway. She suggested some clinics, too.
