I need to find gifts for my 3 year old and 9 month old nieces. I usually buy them books but I want to mix it up this time.
How many nieces and nephews are you shopping for? What are their ages and what will you buy?

I only have one right now, so one. She's 2.5...just a couple months younger than my son. I'm getting her a fisher price piggy bank toy because she likes counting (and my son loves his). I'm also planning on getting her an outfit, book, and a M&D button/lacing/tying puzzle because she really enjoys those activities. My son "bought" her a wooden cake toy (like the Melissa & Doug one) as a gift just from him.

0! I only have 1 niece and her mom never even responds or recognizes if we do anything for her, so I'm done trying. (yes I know that sounds scrooge-y, but it's a long story.)

2 nieces are getting boots because SIL said that's what they needed. The older one (10) showed me a bunch she liked and I picked from there. I also got them each a board game.
For my sisters kids (3 yo boy and 2 yo girl) I got them each a play dough set (they love it and I don't feel bad because she always gets my kid noisy stuff ) My niece is getting Frozen dolls and nephew is getting a set of Thomas minis.

The yet-to-be-born baby is getting amigurimi play food and maybe a hat or some reindeer booties.
We are super broke this year so most of my relatives are getting DIY gifts (I've already spent like $1500 on being pregnant this year, it's absurd).

My two year old niece and nephew are getting some toys and books. My soon to be nephew is flying in with my brother and his fiancé this year, and we're getting him Star Wars Legos (a small set to open here and a large set already mailed to my mom's house in Texas). He's 9.
We are also buying for 9 second cousins and 6 friends' kids. They are all getting books and a ribbon dancing ring.

7!! (3 girls and 4 boys!) Ages 1 to 7.
This year I all got them a personalised name book! Plus other little things for my sister's 2 kids, as opposed to the in-law nieces/nephews. We celebrate with my sister but not really with the in-laws..

I only do my nieces and nephew on my side (2.5 years and 5 month old twins). I bought them each a roll of Tall Tape (it's a growth chart).
My DH buys for his side (remote control helicopter for the almost 6yo and Twister for the 3 yo).

There are 13 nieces and nephews, spread out through 5 families on my husband's side (and all older than my LO). We've made a rule that we buy for everyone until they graduate high school, which leaves us with 11 to buy for this year. Two of the families have 3 kids each who are close in age, so every year I do a family group gift of an age appropriate movie and toys to go with it. This year I chose Finding Dory, and got themed coloring books, stickers, aqua beads, puzzles, action figures etc. to go with it.
I will admit to being disappointed that after 22 years of my husband making an effort for his nieces/nephews annually (ok, its been me for the past 7 years!), only 3 of the 5 families have ever given any kind of gift to my LO. (finances are not the issue).

Our nephew is the same age as our 2 year old son so I have a hard time controlling myself! We got him 2 Elmo PJs and a 6-pack of Elmo socks (he's obsessed with him), and matching PJs for him to wear with DS1 and DS2. SIL is having their first boy in February so lots of baby clothes and gear.

1 nephew and 1 niece, ages 4 and 2. He's getting an Ironman action figure b/c he's obsessed with all things superhero, and I got her a Skip Hop water bottle with an owl on it. It was between that and something impractical like an adorable sparkly little girl's purse b/c she loves that stuff - but my sister said she'd prefer the practical gift.

@Charm54: just looked that up on Amazon. Looks like a ton of fun- the regular seat and minis. Would an 8 month or 12 month old like it?

Zero!
There are 18 of them ranging from 17-43. There are 16 great nieces and nephews and they're not getting anything either.
