I was just talking with my DH and I was so surprised to hear he had never been to the Symphony. I always assumed that everyone had, my mom used to drag me kicking and screaming when I was younger. So, I intend to do the same with my children, hopefully with less kicking and screaming. How many of you have been to the Symphony and/or intend to bring your babies when they are older?

Yep. I've been to the symphony to watch and played on stage at Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis.
I will take C. She already loves music and I want her exposed to all different genres. Her daddy plays guitar and I was a classical violinist for more than half my life. She loves to sit and watch DH play guitar, even at 5 months old.

Yes mom used to take me on special dates to the Boston Pops! I don't know if hubs has ever been I'll have to ask when he wakes up. My guess would be no I wouldn't think his parents would have taken him to the symphony. But I will be sure to take our kids.

my SIL and brother took me for my 16th birthday to see Joshua Bell - my violin idol at the time! I was in love with him lol
I went to a couple others but just in HS and college.
I would love to go again. I love music.

My grandmother took us to the symphony pretty regularly. One year she made it a birthday present to all the grandkids to subscribe to the BSO. She's a classy lady.
Even as kids, we enjoyed it a surprising amount. I don't think any of us ever complained about the experience!

Yes, I went to see the orchestra a few times in college when they made it easy for us to go as a group.

Yep, many times growing up. I also played violin and was in multiple youth orchestras through elementary, middle and high school. DH had never been to the symphony before he met me and so we went once. Poor guy looked like he was about to doze off, haha. But honestly, I found it a bit dull too. Perhaps i wasn't into the composer...

we went during field trips and those were the worst. what elementary student likes going to the symphony? that was not well thought out. i always got in trouble for talking. the teacher would keep moving me, but i would just talk to whoever i sat by. i don't handle boredom well.

I used to have young subscriber tickets to the Symphony when I lived around the corner from Lincoln Center.

I went as a kid. The Houston Symphony has free concerts in the park downtown during the summer. It's so fun to go listen with a blanket and a picnic. I'll definitely take my LOs.

both my brother and i played violin growing up, so we went to concerts all the time, anytime anyone came through our town. and we both played in orchestras during the school year and in summer camps. i definitely want my future children to play an instrument as well, it was such a great experience

I love the Symphony. Music gets me really emotional, I usually end up shedding a tear or two.

My mom and I had season tickets to the symphony and ballet when I was little - I took ballet lessons and played violin and LOVED dressing up and going. We have a great symphony here and we go a few times a season. When LO is old enough, I will get season tickets for her and I so we can dress up and go together.

We go all the time when I'm visiting my parents. They even helped start a symphony for our hometown.

I have been to many symphonies. My favorite by far is the Chicago Symphony Orchestra- they are way too amazing! I actually had the pleasure of playing in my city's symphony orchestra (as a paid member!!) while I was in college. It was super fun.
