And did you feel like it was a good number? Too many? Not enough?
Also, please include whether or not the party was at your house.

Won't happen for another two months, but including DH, myself, and LO, there will be 12 people there, and it will be in our home. Sometimes I like planning big events, but for his 1st birthday we've decided to just keep it small, casual, and hopefully low stress! The 12 people is just us and his grandparents, uncles, aunt, and cousin.

Following!
Ours will be at our house and our tentative guest list is already at 40+! I'm thinking we have a lot if trimming to do

We still have 6 months to go but I think we're going to just have our families there and a few friends (that have kids). We have big families though so it'll probably be around 25 people.
My nephews first birthday a few months ago had over 40 people there at my brothers house. When they told me about it, I thought that seemed like too many people but actually being there, it was fine. They had people inside and outside though so that spaced it out

house party, invited 35ish, had around 30ish show up. it was a good number.

We had around 20-25, I think. It was at our house and I think we were at capacity, honestly.

House party, but we flew in for it, so technically, not my house!
I think about 40 were invited, we probably had around 30 and it was fine.

We had a house party with a barbecue in the garden and a paddling pool for the kids (and the baby bath tub filled with ice, beer and champagne for the adults). I'd say we had somewhere between 30-40 people including kids during the day. We invited people from 2pm onwards and people came and went until about 8 pm at night.

About 35 adults and 10 kids. It was at the party room in our building. It was a manageable number but I would have liked even less people!

House party with 30 people. It seemed like a great number and things went smoothly and there was enough room. Since all of my family (and half of DH's family) is out of state, the numbers were much lower than what they would be if we all lived by each other. In that case I can't imagine it being at our house!

We're having a party at our house. 48 people were invited....man that list got big, fast. I think we're going to be in the 30's, though.
and it will be outside, otherwise it'll be in the basement. I ordered tables for people to sit at.

Ugh I'm embarrassed... our guest list is hovering at like 60 now. Hopefully we get a lot of nos.... I think we'll do big this round and then tone it down in the future.

DD's was at a restaurant and we had 23 including kids
DS' was at our clubroom and I think we had 28 including kids.
Good # of ppl both times.

Ours is tomorrow! We have 35 adults and 11 kids coming, counting us. It is at our house! All family too!!

You guys are making me feel like freaks for ours being so small! lol. We could invite others and get it up to 30-40 pretty quickly, but if there ends up being bad weather and it's an indoor party that would be wayyyy too many people, we'd be so cramped!

@wonderstruck: I'm aiming for 20-25. We have a nice deck and patio, but the party will be in August in Texas, so I don't think anyone will want to be outside even if it isn't raining!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@lawbee11: what if you get one of those pop up tailgating tents for shade and have a fan?

15 but we invited 30. 15 was the perfect number since it wasn't warm enough to be outside. It was at our house.

@Smurfette: Our deck is partially covered, and we have tables with umbrellas so there is some shade, but I'm guessing it's going to be at/around 100*, so I can see people staying out there for maybe 1/2 an hour to sit and eat, but probably not much longer than that.

At our house and out to brunch, 4 grandparents, 1 uncle, and 2 parents along with the birthday boy!

We don't have a kiddle yet, but I've seen babies who've been COMPLETELY overwhelmed by having too many people at their party. (HUGE 1st b-days, or dols, are very common in my culture). So I think it would depend on our kid's social comfort. DH is a total ham, but I have mild social anxiety issues (hence, small wedding) so I guess it could go either way.
Practically, our families are spread out everywhere, so I think it would be just my side of the family (they live closer). If our kid could deal, perhaps some of my extended relatives could be invited. So it could be as few as 5 adults, it could be as many as 15 adults and 5 kids.
*ETA: If its just my family, it would be at our house or at my mom's house. If its extended family, we might rent a banquet room at a Korean or Chinese restaurant.

We had LO's party at home and we had 20 adults and 13 kids in attendance. Since his bday is in August, we rented a tent for the backyard to keep the party (mostly) outdoors. It was the perfect number of guests!

About 25, at our house. We don't have a big house, but it still worked.

Ours is next month and we will be inviting around 50 and that includes family, kids, coworkers (that have been involved with her at some point, not all of them lol ) and close family friends.
It will be in a church hall.

@wonderstruck: we will have 9 max (including LO, DH and I), depending on whether or not my dad is away for work.
ETA: at my in laws big awesome house. Our apartment is too small even for 9!

Including dh and I (as well as the birthday girl) we had 20 people in my living room. I think it was a good number, I think if we had anymore guests then lo would have gotten overwhelmed. We're going to have a very low-key birthday this year for lo - going to the zoo and dinner with the grandparents.

30 at our house, we were able to do it outside, it would have been too many for inside!
coconut / 8681 posts
We had between 30 and 40 and it was at our house. Luckily we were able to be outside even though it was pretty hot. Looking back I think it was a good number but I remember at the time swearing that we were never having 20+ to a birthday party again
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
Ours was at our house and it was around 50 but people came in staggered times so it wasn't so full and overwhelming. The 1st birthday is a big deal in the Korean culture so I invited my extended family
nectarine / 2973 posts
Including us there were 20 adults 4 babies and 2 kids. It was in our two bedroom condo, I think it was a good amount of people. We have a decent size back patio too so it helped it not be over crowded.
pineapple / 12053 posts
50-60, not at our house, our baby was fine. but she's pretty social and fine with lots of people.

We just made the guest list tonight and it's around 70 (eek!). I'm hoping not everyone will come. Is that awful?
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
40ish, and not at home. It was a large room, and we seriously love everyone who was there, so it felt right.
coconut / 8430 posts
It was at our house and we invited around 60 and had about 55 come (including many babies and toddlers). It was in the summer so people were in the backyard, living room, kitchen and family room. We had a hard time trimming down the guest list and I'm glad we invited everyone that we did. Future parties will be much smaller though!

@lawbee11: haha I love that you are thinking about M's first bday already! Didn't we just have our babes?!
